There is a fantastic new offer available to anyone thinking of starting to play golf available at Enniscorthy. We call it ‘give golf a try’. It is a ‘learn to play’ membership for just €150.

For this you get three months’ membership which is available Monday to Friday, a group clinic with our resident professional, Stephen Fitzpatrick, on-course mentoring with some of our ‘seasoned’ members, free use of golf clubs if you don’t have any for the clinic, and special ‘learn to play’ competitions.

There is a limited availability on numbers for this so act fast if you wish to avail of this new and innovative idea over the summer months. If you should then decide that you would like to join as a full member, then there is no joining fee and we will deduct the €150 that you have already paid from your annual subscription. Now that is what you call a deal!

If you know of anyone who might be interested in this offer then please encourage them to take it up, a great way to spend the summer months. Utilise it as a treat for the Leaving Cert. students before they start third level.

The official opening of the Brooklyn Restaurant takes place this Wednesday, July 20, at 9 p.m. All are welcome and food will be served as a taster as to what our new chef, Greg, has to offer. Rave reviews have been coming in about the quality and value of the food on offer in recent weeks. Music will be provided by Jimmy Hogan and friends.

Our open week starts on Thursday, July 21, and runs through to Sunday, July 31, with competitions every day with many formats and variations to suit all categories, and the booking sheets have opened. Booking early is highly recommended to avoid disappointment as we expect to be very busy for the week.

We have set our prices at a maximum of €15 for non-members and it is easily the cheapest open week in the region. So come along and enjoy the golf and the craic, you never know who you might meet up with in the bar and restaurant.

Our new competition to the calendar recently started and is gaining in popularity judging by the number of players rising every week, the ladies’ and gents’ open singles, and is scheduled to be on almost every Monday until the end of September. The entry fee is €5 for members and €10 for visitors, and it is open to all membership categories.

If you know of anyone who might be interested in this competition, then please bring them along. Where else would you get such great golfing facilities for €10?

Next month’s sponsor of the gents’ monthly Seniors on August 11 is our very own Stephen Fitzpatrick, our club professional, purveyor of the leading brands in golf equipment and apparel for all ages, sizes and abilities. Lessons and tuition can be booked with Stephen himself; you are never too old to learn and get rid of those bad habits.
