HOUSE OF STORIES

Ballindagg­in Community Hall was crowded on Thursday night last week for the monthly session of House of Stories. It was a fantastic night of entertainm­ent with music, singing, dancing, stories and recitation­s. Little Amy Power gave a great exhibition of Irish step dancing and also 10 year old Karol Whelan. Apologies to people who didn’t get to perform their party piece on the night due to time restrictio­n. Prayerful good wishes were sent to Michael Murphy, Jack Kilbride, Sheila Ronan and to Philis and everyone associated with the House of Stories who are unwell at present. Raffle winners were as follows: Anne Quigley, Boolabeg (2 prizes).

DUFFRY ROVERS CAMOGIE

Well done to the girls of the Duffry Rovers under-12 camogie team who defeated Oylegate recently. It was a great game of camogie to watch from the sidelines, the girls never gave up, a well deserved win. Well done also to the intermedia­te team who defeated Cloughbawn with a scoreline of 5-5 to 2-9 with scores coming from Annmarie Foley, Elaine Neville, Katie Colclough, Cloda Fitzhenry, Marguerite Doyle and Deirdre Codd.

PATRON AND FIELD DAY

Plans are under way for Kiltealy annual patron which will take place this year on Sunday, August 7, beginning with prayers in the old cemetery at 1 p.m. Patron Mass will be at 1.30 p.m. in the new cemetery followed by the field day which this year as always will have many attraction­s (full details later). Parish raffle tickets will be available soon. Bottles for bottle stall can be left in local shops. New volunteers to help on the day most welcome.

SOCIAL

The July social and tea will be in Kiltealy Community Hall on Friday, July 29. Music on the night by K-Jo. Kiltealy Hall committee and indeed all the dancers would like to wish Catherine of the Images a speedy recovery following her recent car accident and everyone is looking forward to seeing you back on stage in the not too distant future.

DUFFRY ROVERS LOTTO

The numbers drawn last week were 11, 13, 25, 27; no jackpot winner, no match 3. Lucky dip winners were: Majella Kavanagh, Greenane. Rob Frayne, Ballybrann­is and Declan Earle, Monart. Sellers prizes went to Mary Long, Jack Jordan, Ailish Atkinson and the camogie club. The draw tonight (Tuesday, July 19) is in the Thatch and the jackpot is €6,900.

SPLIT THE POT

The winner of Kiltealy NS splitthe-pot last week was James Long €161. Split the pot will continue through the summer as it is an important income for the school helping to subsidise a number of important schemes and initiative­s such as science week and active week, maths problem solving resources, technology week-bricks4kid­s, music lessons, soccer and rugby coaching and soccer and GAA competitio­ns, bus transport to various events and resources and prizes for various art, academic and project work.
