STOP MAKING SENSE PARTY Wexford Arts Centre, Saturday, July 23, 8.30 p.m. For every ticket bought to attend a Talking Heads-inspired Stop Making Sense Party this Saturday, July 23, Wexford Arts Centre will donate €1 to the Wexford LGBT Youth Support Group.

The event, with DJs Johnny Moy and Thomas Taste will feature music influenced by or related to New York City in the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s.

The Arts Centre is working with the Sugar Club, Stop Dancing Cinema and Encore! to bring a celebratio­n of David Byrne’s band Talking Heads on tour. After four-in-a-row sold-out shows at the Sugar Club, the party is hitting the road and travelling around Ireland for the first time. The music includes every genre from Disco and House to Punk and Funk.

Rare unseen photo selections from the era will play as the DJs run through the soundtrack of one of the most culturally important cities in the world.

URBAN FUNK DANCE CAMP Wexford Arts Centre, August 8 to August 11 Learn hip hop dance routines during a four-day Urban Funk Dance Camp running in Wexford Arts Centre from Monday August 8 to Thursday, August 11.

The course is aimed at seven- to 12-year-olds who want to learn creative movement and confidence-building techniques while making new friends and having fun.

LÍOSA MURPHY CONCERT Wexford Arts Centre, Thursday, August 11, 8.30 p.m. The Celtic pop folk singer and whistle player Líosa Murphy will play a concert at Wexford Arts Centre on Thursday, August 11.

Líosa brings energy and beauty to each song she performs, from haunting ballads to rip roaring sets of jigs and reels delivered on her Susato and Burke whistles, backed by a supreme band of musicians during live shows.

Her debut album ‘Skylark’ gives Irish folk and traditiona­l music a contempora­ry edge by mixing it with percussive styles from other musical cultures, marrying electro pop, world rhythms and her own vocal percussion­s on well-loved songs such as Nancy Spain and Caledonia and tunes such as The Drunken Landlady, the Skylark and Union Reels.

KIERAN GOSS CONCERT Wexford Arts Centre, Saturday, August 27 Tickets have gone on sale for a concert by the Irish singersong­writer Kieran Goss at Wexford Arts Centre on Saturday, August 27, as part of a national ‘Home for the Summer’ tour. Kieran, who has been in the music business for over 30 years and had a top 10 single ‘Out of My Head’ in 1998, will be accompanie­d by special guest Annie Kinsella. BOOK YOUR SHORTWORKS­TICKETS Clayton Whites Hotel in October Wexford Festival Opera has announced its cosmopolit­an cast list for daytime Shortworks production­s which will be staged in Clayton Whites Hotel during the festival. The casts comprise singers from all over the world, all of whom will perform in the evening operas as well. The three short production­s include the farcical short opera Il Campanello (The Night Bell) by Gaetano Donizetti; Riders to the Sea by Ralph Vaughan Williams, based on the Irish play by John Millington Synge, and The Bear by William Walton, after a vaudeville by Anton Chekov.
