SPLIT THE POT

Tom Foley was the winner of Kiltealy NS split-the-pot last week winning €158. Play split-the-pot every week, envelopes available locally. As the school re-opens today the next draw will be in the school on Monday next, September 5.

DUFFRY SOCIAL CLUB

The Duffry Social Club meet every Wednesday in Kiltealy Community Centre for bingo, cards, craic, chat and refreshmen­ts. New members always welcome.

Club members had a very enjoyable day out on Thursday last to the annual Our Lady’s Island pilgrimage

OUR LADY’S ISLAND

Our Lady’s Island Pilgrimage season opened on August 15 and continues till September 8 with Mass each day of the pilgrimage season at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. On Sunday, September 4, Co. Wexford pro-life pilgrimage will take place commencing with Mass at 3 p.m. followed with Rosary around the Island. Closing ceremony will be on September 8 with Mass and torchlight procession at 7 p.m.

SYMPATHY

The death occurred on Thursday, August 25, of Sonny (Bart) Furlong, Grange, Rathnure following a short illness. Well known over a wide area he was one of the oldest residents in the community and a true gentleman of deep faith. He enjoyed good health up to his illness and his energy and enthusiasm for life was an inspiratio­n for all.

Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Winnie, The O’Connor family, Duffry Hall, Mohurry (nephews and niece) and also to his sister-in-law Marie, nephews nieces, neighbours and friends. Interment took place in Rathnure cemetery on Saturday last following funeral Mass in Rathnure Church. May he rest in peace.

KILTEALY NS

Kiltealy NS re-opened today following the summer holidays with some new initiative­s planned for 2016/17 school year. Although few of the children were excited heading out this morning there is much to be excited about in the coming months especially the ‘Funky Kids Club’ with Kiltealy N.S. being one of the first in Wexford to experience the much sought after kids programme which includes song, dance, art, speech and drama helping chil- dren develop their creative skills.

It will run for 10 to 12 weeks ending with a fantastic show coming up to Christmas with full stage lighting and effects. Also the developmen­t of a school garden for vegetable and herb growing is in the pipeline to add to the many initiative­s already in place in the school.

DUFFRY ROVERS LOTTO

The numbers drawn last week were 3, 7, 13 and 21. No jackpot winner. Match-three winners were; Declan Shallow c/o Anne Marie Foley. Mary Kent c/o E. Doyle. Conor Walsh, Monbeg and Lisa Frayne, Bormona. Sellers prizes went to Matt Mernagh, Peter Ryan, Bowe’s and Rackard’s. The draw tonight (Tuesday. August 30) is in Jordan’s, Ballindagg­in and the jackpot is now €7,500.

Kiltealy Voluntary Cardiac Response are holding a Christmas fair on Sunday, December 11, a great festive day in store with arts and crafts on sale plus fun for kids.
