The four-star Riverside Park Hotel and Leisure Club is going from strength to strength with news that it has begun a major expansion with an investment of €1.5 million creating 22 new bedrooms.

The project, the fourth expansion of the hotel, brings to 100 the number of rooms at the hotel, as well as additional bar facilities.

Owner Colm Neville is managing the expansion that will consist of deluxe and family rooms as well as a couples-only floor and two junior suites overlook Enniscorthy Town and Castle.

It comes only two years after opening their last expansion of 20 bedrooms and an additional function room, the Seamus Rafter Suite.

In the latest development the Promenade Bar is receiving an extension and complete refurbishment.

The expansion of the Riverside Park Hotel comes off the back of two further significant recent investments Mr Neville has made in the hospitality industry, having with his brother Anthony, purchased the four-star 110- bedroomed Portlaoise Heritage Hotel, which is currently undergoing a reinvestment transformation itself as well as having just celebrated a very busy first year trading in the popular newly refurbished Crown Bar in Wexford town.

Colm Neville said the new luxurious rooms ‘will be marketed to our valued existing and new customer audiences, be they leisure or business travellers as well as the local community’.

‘ The inclusion of extra family rooms is in response to the ever increasing demand from families for rooms that can sleep two adults and up to three and four children in the one room and we are constantly under pressure for more of these rooms,’ said Mr Neville.

‘Such rooms are not regularly available in hotels traditionally and we are delighted to be providing more of them to add to the eight such rooms already in the hotel!’

He said the hotel has seen strong growth in the tourism sector over the past two years due the turn in the economy, the growth of overseas visitors to the country, the release of ‘Brooklyn’ much of which was filmed in Enniscorthy, and the promotion of the area from both Visit Wexford and Enniscorthy & District Chamber of Commerce.

The new extension will create eight jobs, bringing to 173 the total number of staff employed at The Riverside Park Hotet. Work is expected to be complete before the start of the 2017 tourist season.

Mr Neville said from local feedback the effect of the last expansion of 20 bedrooms was felt by businesses on the streets of Enniscorthy from retailers and tourism suppliers and the hotel anticipates that this expansion, being an additional 30 per cent more bedrooms, will equally benefit the town significantly. ‘ The entire team here at The Riverside Park Hotel & Leisure Club have a proven track record and we will continue to offer our customers an impeccable high level of accommodation, service and a standard of personalised care,’ he said. Mr Neville, together with the hotel’s General Manager of 19 years Mr Jim Maher, believe they have a fundamental understanding of their guests requirements, applying all their experience in delivering exquisite style and luxury in this, the newest addition to the hotel’s facilities.
