Martin’s to meet Mogue O’Rahillys in Premier final

ST Martin’s will meet Mogue O’Rahillys in the Wexford People Premier Minor Hurling Championship final after both won their respective semi-finals last week.

The Gusserane/Fethard combination were first to advance, beating Naomh Eanna 2-10 to 0-11 in Wexford Park. The following evening St Martin’s proved too strong for Faythe Harriers, winning 2-13 to 0-4.

The Roinn 1 quarter-finals also took place and there were no real surprises. HWH-Bunclody racked up 0-23 against Geraldine O’Hanrahans, they will face Munna-Abbain in the semi-final after the Taghmon/Adamstown combo beat Monageer-Boolavogue by a goal.

Oylegate-Glenbrien blitzed Castle-Craan Gaels 5-19 to 1-11 in the quarters. They will meet Hollow Rovers (Duffry Rovers/ Marshalstown) in the last four after the Enniscorthy District combo beat Dunbrody Gaels.

The Roinn 2 final between Cloughbawn and Our Lady’s Island/St Fintan’s was postponed and will be rescheduled. The Shield final was won by St Patrick’s, the Camolin club beat Davidstown-Courtnacuddy in St Patrick’s Park.

Wednesday sees attention turn to the Wexford People Minor Football Championship with quarter-finals in Premier and Roinn 1. There’s semi-final action in Roinn 2 this week.

Starlighs will face Ballynastragh Gaels in the Gorey Guardian Under-16 Premier football championship final after they beat Glynn-Barntown and St Martin’s respectively.

Three Roinn 1 quarter-finals were played with Blackwater beating Gusserane, St Mary’s (Maudlintown) easing past Bann Gaels and HWH-Bunclody getting the better of Volunteers.

The Enniscorthy Guardian Hurling Championship takes centre stage on Saturday. Premier semi-finals, Roinn 1 quarters and a Roinn 2 title decider are sure to peak the interest of GAA fans before attention turns to adult action in the afternoon.

Saturday morning last saw the majority of the New Ross Standard under-14 hurling championship semi-finals take place in venues around the county. However, just one Division 1 game took place, in it St Martin’s beat Coillte O’Rahillys to secure the final last four spot.

In Division 2 Blackwater eased past Glynn-Barntown, 2-8 to 1-3, to reach the championship final. The other semi between HWH-Bunclody and Buffers Alley was abandoned because of a bad injury and must be rescheduled.

Rapparees edged an absolute cracker in the Division 2 shield, getting past Rathgarogue-Cushinstown by a point (2-7 to 2-6). In the final they will meet Craanford, who beat Ferns 4-7 to 0-2.

Another dramatic semi-final took place in Division 3, where Crossabeg-Ballymurn scraped past Fethard, 2-8 to 2-7. They will face St Anne’s in the final after the Rathangan side edged past Askamore in the last four.

Ballynastragh took the Division 3 shield against Taghmon-Camross while Oylegate-Glenbrien sneaked past Our Lady’s Island/St Fintan’s in the Division 4 decider. Full reports on those games are included in this section.

With Adamstown awaiting the winners in the Division 4 shield final, Geraldine O’Hanrahans got the better of Duffry Rovers in the semi-final. There were wins for Cloughbawn and Davidstown-Courtnacuddy in the Division 5 A shield last four clashes.

Ballyhogue moved past Bannow-Ballymitty into the Division 5 B shield final.

There they will meet a Marshalstown-Castledockrell side looking to do the double, having edged past St Mary’s (Rosslare) in a cracker (5-6 to 4-8).
