-

A 39-acre farm at Knockalour, Bunclody, sold at auction last week for €505.000.

Auctioneer David Quinn reported a nice turnout at his Carnew auction room on Tuesday for the land located between Carnew and Bunclody. The three fields in tillage were guided for sale at €10,000 per acre. After an opening bid of €400,000, it went on the market at €422,000, and brisk offers from two main bidders saw the hammer fall at around €13,000 per acre. It was bought by a local farming family.

Eleven acres at Johnstown Coolgreany, went under the hammer at the Quinn Property Gorey office on Friday. There was a small crowd at the auction. The land was guided at between €10,000 and €12,000 per acre. With an opening bid of €100,000, three bidders moved it to €130,000. The land was then withdrawn but sold immediately afterwards to a local farmer.

Next up at Quinn Property is the auction of a 63 acre residential holding at Killanne on Friday, September 23, at 3 p.m. in The Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy. It is guided at between €10,000 and €11,000 per acre.

It includes a house and farmyard, and David said the excellent quality holding can be sold in one or separate lots.

On Tuesday, October 18, at 3 p.m. in the Carnew office, a 67.5 acre residential holding at Ballinglen, Tinahely, will go under the hammer. It is guided at €7,000 to €8,000 per acre, for sale in one or three lots. ‘It has a fine old farmhouse which needs a bit of work, and some buildings and sheds,’ said David.
