The first ever TEDx event in the south-east will be hosted at Wexford Arts Centre on Friday, September 23, at 7 p.m. on the theme of ‘Tomorrow Imagined’. The speakers will include the entrepreneur and and mountaineer Pat Falvey talking about mindset; Ulick Stafford on ‘Survive Your Camp’; Grace Gelder on ‘Adventures in Self Marriage’; Simon Cocking on the future of work; Frankie Gaffney on the importance of punctuation, typography and spelling in understanding the visual medium of literature; Patrick Sutton on empowering artists of tomorrow; John Sweeney talking about how to hack your mental health; Saffa Musley on ‘The Look of the Irish: Redefining the Irish person’; Mary Reynolds on ‘the Gardening Awakening’ and Diarmaid Lynch on ‘Rooting Tomorrow’.
The TEDx programme is designed to help communities, organisations and individuals spark conversation and connections through TED-like experiences. LAUNCH OF ‘CULTURE’ Friday, September 30, Wexford Arts Centre, 9 p.m.
The launch of HQ’s electronic music night ‘Culture’ will take place in Wexford Arts Centre on Friday, September 30 from 9 pm until late. The talent of DJs nineteen92, Robbie Murphy and Rowan McCleane will be showcased through the genres of disco, house and techno with visuals by graphic artist Robbie Parle. Billed as a dance session not to be missed.
FILM CLUB SCREENING ‘DIRTY DANCING’

‘I AM IRELAND’ SHOW Saturday, October 1, Wexford Arts Centre, 8 p.m.
Join the renowned traditional Irish tenor Paddy Homan on a tour of Ireland when he brings his one-man show ‘I Am Ireland’ to Wexford Arts Centre on Saturday, October 1, at 8 p.m.
Paddy, a native of Cork city living in Chicago, will take his audience through the history of Ireland’s independence in the form of songs, speeches and images.
‘To fully appreciate what took place in 1916, one has to look back at the totality of everything that happened up to that point. I believe that the songs are the best way to tell the story,’ he said.
Presented in two acts with projected images to bring the faces of the great statesmen and pictures of the time to life, Homan performs with a three-piece band as he celebrates the glory of Irish music and the glory of the Irish nation.
CROWDFUNDING CLINIC Wednesday, October 5, Wexford Arts Centre, 5 p.m.
Crowdfunding could be the answer if you have a brilliant creative idea or a start-up business plan that you want to bring to fruition. Fund It is teaming up with Bank of Ireland to host a crowdfunding clinic at Wexford Arts Centre on Wednesday, October 5, at 5 p.m. to give people knowledge and insights into Irish and international networks to assist their own crowdfunding plans. Admission is free.
JAZZ PERFORMANCE BY AERIE Thursday, October 6, Wexford Arts Centre, 8.30 p.m.
Jazz quintet Aerie will perform at Wexford Arts Centre on Thursday, October 6 at 8.30 pm. The group comprising saxophone, guitars, bass and drums create exciting modern jazz combining written material and improvisation with rock and jaxx grooves.
