Important meeting for the greyhound fraternity

THERE IS a very Important meeting of the G.R.I.I. group this Tuesday in the Riverside Hotel, Enniscorthy, at 8 p.m. sharp.

Greyhound Racing Integrity Ireland invites all greyhound owners, trainers and breeders to attend this meeting. The agenda will include the Morris report, the recent Greyhound Forum report which the group attended in Limerick, the appointment of the next committee, and any other business.

This a great opportunity to put forward your concerns, and any new ideas or initiatives will be welcome.

The grand prize this year is kindly sponsored by George Roche of Barntown. Always one of the top events at Enniscorthy track down through the years, it has been run over several different distances.

This year it is back to the standard 525 and run as an A1 stake. It carries a winner’s prize of €4,500 and the battle began on Thursday night.

As expected, some very good runs were recorded.

Heat five saw local hope Airdown Rena run a fine race to come from behind runners to score an eye-catching win in a good time of 28.98.

In heat eight My Céilí broke fast to down the favourite by a wide margin in a good 28.90. The second round continues this Thursday night and some more good racing can be expected.

The Monday night card featured the final of the unraced stake and there was something of a surprise winner as trap three runner Blade Home blasted from traps to lead all the way for an impressive victory in a good time of 28.93.
