North End fight back for a draw

-

NORTH End United fought back from two goals down to earn a share of the spoils in Bunclody on Sunday.

The hosts performed well and held a 2-0 advantage at the interval thanks to goals from P.J. Mulhall and Johnny Melay and looked to be on their way to an impressive victory.

However, the Wexford town side dug deep and battled back on level terms through Jason Murphy and an Adam Beary penalty.

Beary then had chance to win it near the end but his his shot was off target.

Courtown Hibs certainly had their shooting boots on as they racked up an 8-2 win in Campile. Glen Hughes (two), Leighton Gleeson, Eugene O’Brien, Michael Kinsella, Ian Travers, Colin O’Brien and Daniel O’Brien got the goals for Hibs, with Dale Flynn and Eric Banville hitting the back of the net for Campile.

Gorey Rangers bounced back from the previous week’s loss to North End by overwhelming Kilmore United 5-2.

David Behan bagged a double for the north county men, while Wayne Cullen, Stephen Kinsella and Gary Murphy added a goal apiece and Devin Furlong and Alan Colgate replied for Kilmore.

Moyne Rangers are going along nicely, and they picked up their second win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory away to New Ross Celtic. Alan Tobin and Peter Marsden (penalty) got the goals for the Enniscorthy outfit.

It looks like it could prove difficult to wrest the title back from Shamrock Rovers and on Sunday they chalked up an impressive 5-1 win over Gorey Celtic (see focus match).
