Scurri welcomes Ciara to the team

-

CLONARD native Ciara Edwards is the newest member of staff to be taken on board by Scurri.

Ciara, who has just finished her BSc in Computer Applications and Software Development in DCU, joined the team as an Intern Software Developer during the summer months and will move on to a Junior Software Developer role on completion of the internship in October.

Her appointment comes not long after she won at the Best Project in DCU’s Final Year Expo sponsored by Davy Stockbrokers with her ‘Helping Hand’ project.

Aimed at the many stroke survivors in Ireland, the project is based on a product developed by Ciara to measure, analyse and improve people’s hand strength. It is also suitable for anyone who has suffered any sort of injury.

‘I found out I had won through an email over the summer,’ she said. ‘I thought it was just a generic email going to everyone so I couldn’t believe it when I read it!’

Commenting on her time with Scurri, Ciara said that she has been engaged in challenging but rewarding work.

‘It is all going well so far,’ she said. ‘It is very different from college but I am learning a lot more and making more business contacts.’

Though Ciara said that she hadn’t ruled out the possibility of moving further afield for a job, she said she was happy to find one in her hometown of Wexford.

‘I worked in Dublin before I came here and it was fine but the commute got a bit hectic,’ she said. ‘I thought I would try my chances at finding a job here.’
