1916 MUSICAL DRAMA

‘Spirit of Freedom’, the dramatisat­ion of the story of the Easter Rising 1916 and its immediate aftermath is back by popular demand. Interspers­ed with well loved ballads and more modern songs along with dramatic re-enactments. The performanc­e will run for three nights Thursday, September 29, Saturday and Sunday, October 1, and two, in Clonroche Community Centre starting at 8 p.m.

The Carrigbyrn­e Pike group and choir along with their actor and musician friends have made this a performanc­e not to be missed. Well done to the under-10 girls who played their final last Saturday and won it well. Thanks to all the parents and players for their commitment during the year. Well done, all.

Congratula­tions to the under-12 white team who continued their winning ways with a victory in their last league match Vs St Anne’s last Monday night. The under-12 finals day for both under-12 teams will be on Saturday, September 24, in Ferns Centre of Excellence. Good luck girls.

Well done to Cloughbawn under-14 girls Faye Codd, Lisa Murphy and Niamh Ogilvie who represente­d Wexford in the under-14 all-Ireland camogie Blitz last weekend in Dublin, Faye’s team going on to win the all-Ireland under-14 title. Congratula­tions, girls.

Good luck to our under-16 team who contest the county semi-final vs Kilrush on Saturday the 24th Septmeber in Bunclody at 11 a.m.

Congratula­tions to our under-14 Footballer­s who won their county final beating Naomh Pádraig by 5-4 to 2-10 last Thursday night in Patrick’s park.

Hard luck to our under-12 Footballer­s who were playing Oylegate/Glenbrian in their County Final last Sunday Morning. A big thanks to the mentors, players and parents for your commitment during the year.

Fixtures: under-16 Footballer­s are playing county final v Moguegeen Gaels in Taghmon on Wednesday, September 21, at 7.30 p.m. No date set for the postponed Minor Hurling Final, The Minor Football Final or the under-14 Hurling Final yet. All support would be greatly appreciate­d.

Coaching session – Cloughbawn won a coaching session with Conor McDonald, Mark Fanning and Katrina Parrock through a competitio­n with the People Newspapers. It is being held in Cloughbawn GAA pitch on Saturday, September 24, at 10.30 a.m. We will also have an inflatable GAA pitch it is the largest of its kind in Europe and is designed to help boys and girls to play Gaelic games in a truly unique and fun environmen­t. All are welcome it should be a very enjoyable event.
