-

THE big guns from Wexford marched on in the O’Neill’s LFA Junior Cup after coming through their second round ties unscathed at the weekend.

Premier Division champions Shamrock Rovers comfortably accounted for Corduff F.C., winning 5-1 with goals from Ricky Fox, James Carty, Martin McKeown, Jamie Fox and Emmet Quirke.

North End United had a tougher assignment as they edged out Kildare Town 2-1. All the goals came in the first-half, with Adam Beary giving the Wexford town side the lead, before Gary Byrne grabbed the winner after the hosts had equalised.

Moyne Rangers won 5-0 away to Forth Celtic, with James Peare (two), Peter Marsden, Pa O’Rourke and Dillon Redmond scoring for the Premier Division high-flyers.

Gorey Rangers overcame Dublin outfit Dingle United 3-1 in the capital thanks to a double from Gary Murphy and a David Behan goal.

Goalkeeper Bryan Tobin played a starring role for Bridge Rovers as they overcame fellow Wexford side New Ross Celtic 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw.

Kevin Murphy (two) and Daniel Murphy got the goals for the Castlebridge side, but netminder Tobin was to the fore in the shootout, saving two spot-kicks.

Wexford Bohs hit OMP United for six, winning 6-1, with Seán Pailing grabbing a double and Davy Lyttleton, Jason Swords, Jessie Kelly and Derek Bergin adding a goal apiece.

Curracloe United chalked up a good 4-1 win away to St. Pat’s Phoenix.

Tom Shannon got the goal for Adamstown as they lost 3-1 to Donnycarney F.C., while Bunclody lost 4-2 to Crettyard and Courtown Hibs were edged out 2-1 by Kingscourt Harps.

A Ross Reardon goal gave Gorey Celtic a 1-0 half-time advantage against Inny F.C. in Mullingar, but the hosts eventually ran out 4-2 winners.

Darragh Curran grabbed the other goal for the north Wexford side.
