Ballindagg­in House of stories takes place this Thursday night, October 13, where patrons and indeed newcomers will be welcomed for another great night of entertainm­ent beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is free and tea and refreshmen­ts will be served.

CAMOGIE

Well done to the under-12 Duffry Rovers camogie team in their last game against Rathnure in Halo Tiles Centre of Excellence recently. The girls played their hearts out and came away with the win, they are a great bunch of young ladies and a credit to the club and their parents. The club would like to thank Brian, Melissa, Fergus and Niall for their work with the girls this season.

RETIREMENT

Margaret Quigley Byrne, Cloroguemo­re, Kiltealy retired recently after spending 33 years as an employee of the HSE working in St Senan’s Hospital, Enniscorth­y. Her former work colleagues had a surprise retirement party for Margaret in Donohue’s, Enniscorth­y on Monday, September 26, where she was welcomed and received many messages of good wishes and a presentati­on and bouquet of flowers. We wish Margaret a long and happy retirement.

COMMUNITY PARK

All households in Kiltealy will receive a survey this week on ideas for the Community Park. Surveys must be returned by October 16 to drop off points at the Mill, Bowe’s, the church, Playschool or the hall. There are extra surveys available in the church.

KILTEALY ICA

President Eileen Brennan pre- sided at the October meeting of Kiltealy ICA held in Kiltealy Community Hall last Thursday evening which was the first meeting following summer recess. A vote of sympathy was extended to Helen Rowe on the passing of her nephew. Get well wishes were extended to members Anne Farrell and Kathleen O’Leary.

The guild are participat­ing in the upcoming craft fair in Kiltealy Community Hall on November 20 in aid of Kiltealy Cardiac Response. Demonstrat­ors for the evening were Ann Ward and Pauline Cowman showing us some knitting skills and craft work which was much enjoyed by all.

Raffle winner was Eileen Brennan. A lovely tea was served by Anne Warren and Dorcas Copeland. Competitio­n for Nov. is for the nicest Halloween barmbrack.

POKER CLASSIC

A reminder to all poker players of five card game, that the annual Duffry Rovers poker game will take place in Jordan’s Lounge, Ballindagg­in on Friday, November 11, at 9.30 p.m. As in previous years there is a prize fund of over €1,000. Tickets are €20 which includes food and door prizes. Tickets are available from any committee member or player. This year there is a special draw with a prize of a weekend hotel break for two and everyone who buys a ticket before the night will be entered into the draw

DUFFRY ROVERS LOTTO

The numbers drawn last week were 4, 11, 18 and 25. Congratula­tions to jackpot winners Meave Frayne, Mangan and Maureen Larkin, Woodlands who matched four and shared the jackpot winning €4,000 each. One matchthree winner Bridget Delaney, Caim won €150.

Sellers prizes last week went last week went to; Thomas Hipwell, The Holy Grail, Declan Doyle and Andy Kehoe. The draw tonight (Tuesday. October 11) is in Bowe’s, Kiltealy. Jackpot is €1,500.

ART AND CRAFT FAIR

There will be a Christmas art and craft fair on Sunday, November 20, in Kiltealy Community Hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in aid of Kiltealy Voluntary Cardiac Response. Kids activities also. Come along and get your Christmas presents, support local crafters and soak up the atmosphere. The organisers are seeking artists and gourmet artisan food producers to fill spaces. BOOK LAUNCH

Seán Óg Doyle will launch a book ‘Old Blackstair­s Families’ on Thursday, October 13, in Killanne Hall. The book contains the names of over 100 families who are or were connected with this area over the last 200 years. This reasonable priced book would make an ideal Christmas present for people at home or abroad. Refreshmen­ts will be served following the launch. Gloria Binions would like all who contribute­d to the publicatio­n.
