A big congratula­tions to our under-14 boys who completed the Double last Saturday morning when they won their county under-14 Hurling against Davidstown-Courtnacud­dy in Patricks Park 3-10 to 3-6 and also beating Naomh Pádraig in their under-14 County Football final two weeks ago. Hard luck to our under-16 footballer­s who were playing their county final against Moguegeen Gaels in Taghmon.

Congratula­tions to our minor Footballer­s who won their County Minor Football Roinn two shield with a nine point victory over St Mary’s-Maudlintow­n in Patricks Park score 4-14 to 4-5. A big thanks to all the Mentors, Players and parents for your commitment during the year.

U6 and U7 Blitz – Last Saturday Cloughbawn GAA Club hosted an u7 and under-six football blitz. Visiting clubs were Bree/ Ballyhogue Oylegate and Ad- amstown it started as a damp day but then the sun came out and we had ideal conditions for football about 100 kids took part with plenty of football skills and excellent scores to be viewed on the day. Special thanks to all parents and players who were there and also to all those who helped in any way with teas/coffees mentoring refereeing etc thanks to Colm Kehoe who presented medals and thanks to Kavanagh Toys Clonroche who sponsored all the goodie bags on the day and Clonroche Agri Build and KDK Scaffoldin­g who sponsored the medals.

Under-10 Blitz – On Sunday, October 2, Cloughbawn GAA hosted a under-10 football blitz with three other clubs taking part Bree Adamstown and Davidstown-Courtnacud­dy Gaa, again the sun was out and it was great to see so many eight, nine- and 10-year-olds competing in what were very tight entertaini­ng games.

When the final whistle went all teams lined up to be presented with medals and goodie bags, and with the speeches completed everyone retired to the club house for a cuppa. Many thanks to everyone who helped out in any way and also to all players and mentors everyone agreed it was a great way to finish the year for our under-10 footballer­s well done lads. Special thanks to Kavanaghs Toys Clonroche who sponsored the goodie bags and Clonroche Agri KDK scaffoldin­g who sponsored the medals.

Final v Monageer Saturday, October 15, time and venue to be confirmed. Senior Hurling Co. FInal v Oulart-The Ballagh Sunday, October 16, in Wexford Park at 3.30 p.m. Minor Hurling R2 Co. Final on Saturday, October 22, at 11 a.m. in Killurin.

HEALTH/LIFESTYLE PROGRAM

Raheen Family Resource Centre intend running a Free Parents Health and Lifestyle Programme in Clonroche Community Centre on Tuesday mornings from 9.3011.30 a.m. beginning on October 18.

This programme will include sessions on Healthy family cooking and shopping, reflexolog­y and massage, trips away, first Aid for children, yoga and Arts and Crafts. Contact Bridget: 051 428805.

The death occurred of Eileen Mahon, on October 1 at 58 Westlands. Eileen, formerly of 10 the Villas, Clonroche. Beloved daughter of the late Mary and Frank and loving sister of Bridget, Ann, Mairead, Mary, Andy, Phil, Francis and the late John. Sadly missed by her loving brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends. The death occurred of Liam Wickham Rathturtin, Clonroche. Son of the late Billy and Alice, father of Alex, brother of Aidan, Sean, Margaret, Ann-Marie and Siobhain. Sadly missed by his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews nieces, relatives and friends.

The death aslo occurred of Kathleen Flood (née McGrath) Tominearly, Clonroche, wife of the late Tim, peacefully at her residence in Tominearly, Clonroche on Tuesday, October 4. Sadly missed by her loving daughter Norma, sons Séamus, Seán and Gary, sister Anita, brothers Oliver, Albert and Monsignor, Joseph McGrath, son-in-law Andy Doyle, daughters-in-law Kathleen, Lucy and Dolores, 11 grandchild­ren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May they all Rest in Peace
