ANNA RACKARD, a daughter of the legendary Wexford hurler Bobby Rackard will be presented with an honorary Fellowship of Wexford Film Society on Tuesday, October 18, in Wexford Arts Centre.

The Picture House has chosen Killane, Enniscorthy, native Anna to be the latest recipient of the Fellowship which is an annual award presented to a Wexford person who has distinguished themselves in the world of film.

The youngest daughter of the late Betty and Bobby Rackard, Anna is a two-time IFTA winning production designer – she won an award in 2009 for Neil Jordan’s ‘Ondine’ and in 2011 for ‘Stella Days’ which starred Martin Sheen.

She has also worked as an art director on Jordan’s ‘The Butcher Boy’, the 2004 Jerry Bruckheimer production ‘King Arthur’ and the Amy Adams romantic comedy ‘LeapYear’.

Her latest film ‘Love & Friendship’ adapted and directed by Oscar nominee Whit Stillman has become the highest grossing speciality release in the US this summer and is likely to feature in the end of year awards season.

Starring Kate Beckinsale, the Jane Austin adaptation will feature in the line-up for the new season of the Picture House with the full programme of movies to be announced on the night of the launch at 8 p.m. The new season starts on Tuesday, November 8.

Anna joins fellow Wexfordians Billy Roche (screenwriter), Gary Lydon (actor), John Paul Kelly (production designer), Declan Lowney (director) and Philip Molloy (film critic) in the Fellowship of Wexford Film Society.

She has just completed work on an adaptation of the Shirley Jackson novel ‘We Have Always Lived in the Castle’ with ‘Captain America’ star Sebastian Stan and Crispin Glover of ‘Back to the Future’, a creepy thriller co-produced by Michael Douglas.

Picture House chairman Stephen Eustace described her as ‘one of the most respected production designers in the business’.

She will be present on the night to receive her Fellowship.
