1SPIEGELTE­NT: Twelve days of music, entertainm­ent and comedy will kick off on Wexford Quay as the Spiegelten­t Festival makes its return for another year. This year’s programme features a host of bigname performers including Jack L, Christy Moore, Paul Young, WOLFF, Corner Boy, Hermitage Green, Little Green Cars, The Saw Doctors, Wexford Male Voice Choir, The Riptide Movement, Mick Flannery, Something Happens, The 4 of Us, The Ocelots, Basciville, The Bootleg Beatles, Mike Denver and Ralph McTell. The crowds will be kept laughing at stand up gigs featuring Al Porter, Tommy Tiernan and some of the Father Ted actors, while the Prohibitio­n Party is sure to keep people dancing until the early hours. Other events include OTT Wrestling, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Freak Fantastiqu­e, A Superhero Circus and the highly-anticipate­d Bosco show. The events will take place in the beautiful surrounds of the Paradiso Spiegelten­t. Tickets for each event are available from the Spiegelten­t Box Office on Wexford Main Street and online. 2ACTION BREAST CANCER PINK WALK: A family walk and run for Action Breast Cancer takes place at the John F Kennedy Arboretum in Dunganstow­n on Saturday, October 15, at 2 p.m. Organised by Floods Centra Ramsgrange and Caulfield’s Centra in Campile, everyone is invited to come along and wear pink on the day in support of women everywhere who have in the past or who currently have breast cancer. This is a family friendly event and will make for a wonderful day out in the arboretum which has been rated as Ireland’s best walking park. People planning to attend can register at Floods Centra in Ramsgrange or at Caulfield’s Centra in Campile.

3DISCO INFERNO: Be transporte­d back to 1976 as Gorey Community School students perform the musical ‘Disco Inferno’ at Gorey Little Theatre from Monday, October 17, to Saturday, October 22, at 8 p.m. with a matinee at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday. The show is directed by Clodagh Cecil, with musical director Roisin Dempsey and choreograp­her Megan McEvoy, and features hits such as ‘Spirit in the Sky’, ‘YMCA’, and ‘Boogie Wonderland’.

4TWO-DAY ARROW AND ARCHERY ACCESSORIE­S COURSE: This will take place at the Irish National Heritage Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16. Over the course of the two days you will make your own arrow shafts, heads and fletchings using techniques spanning from the stone-age and up, including the use of primitive glues. 5STRICTLY COME DANCING: The Craanford Underpass Strictly dancers take to the dance floor in The Ashdown Park Hotel, Gorey, this Saturday, October 15, at 8 p.m. It promises to be a spectacula­r show. Tensions will be high as they are competing for a place in the final against the Clonee GAA dancers who held their final last week. The dancers are working hard to perfect their routines, and all are hoping to be selected as the five finalists who will make it to the final which will be held on Sunday, October 30, in The Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey.

6LARRY KIRWAN: Wexford-born musician Larry Kirwan will return to his hometown for a highly-anticipate­d solo gig on October 15 in Wexford Arts Centre. Larry was raised in nearby George’s Street and played his first gigs with The Johnny Reck Showband at Wexford Arts Centre when it was Wexford Town Hall. He later performed with Pierce Turner in Turner and Kirwan of Wexford and The Major Thinkers before forming Black 47. In his upcoming gig, he will perform songs from throughout his music career. Tickets cost between €12 and €15. The music will start at 8.30 p.m.

7EIGHTIES NIGHT: DJ Buddah will be on the decks for an Eighties night in Enniscorth­y’s Presentati­on Centre on October 14. Having had slots on local radio stations Beat and Carlow FM, as well as various stints on online radio stations, he has carved a name for himself in the music scene. At his upcoming gig, he will bring the crowds back with a live set of eighties retro hits. Eighties style fancy dress is optional but highly encouraged on the night. There will be a bar available for the duration of the evening. Tickets cost €7 and are available from the Presentati­on Centre or online on the Wexford Arts Centre website.
