LATE CANON AIDAN JONES
The people of Castledockrell extend their sympathy to the fam- ily of the late V Rev. Canon Aidan Jones who served as Curate in Castledockrell from 1973 to 1980. May he rest in peace.
MARSHALSTOWN SOCIAL
The next Social in Marshalstown Community centre takes place on Friday, October 21. Music on the night is by Mick Comerford who recently topped the charts with his single Reuben James.
Another great nights dancing assured. Doors open 9.30 p.m. Dancing starts at 10 p.m. Admission is €7 including tea.
SCHOOL PROJECT
Folklore and local history material from Counties Wexford, Wicklow and Carlow have been uploaded to the National Folklore Collections free website duchas. ie the material is from schools collections which contains folklore material recorded by pupils between 1937 and 1939.
It consists of more than half a million pages of handwritten stories and reports noted by some 50,000 primary school children across the 26 counties. Included in this material are many gems of local interest written by pupils from 11 to 14 years from Castledockrell NS, Marshalstown NS and Monart NS.
It gives an interesting insight of the parish in times past and has the names of the children who wrote the stories and their teachers. The website is duchas.ie.
STORYTELLING
The next session of Storytelling in Castledockrell Hall is on Thursday, October 20, at 8 p.m. There will be a raffle on the night. Teas served. This popular event guarantees a good nights entertainment. Come along and see for yourself.
GET WELL
Get well wishes to all from the parish who are ill in hospitals, nursing homes, hospices or at home at present.
LOTTO RESULTS
Lotto Results for Marshalstown/Castledockrell lotto held on October 6 were winning numbers 8, 14, 17 and 23. No jackpot winner. Match-three winners Anna McGrath and Leslie c/o John Kinsella. Each received €50.
Results for October 13 were winning numbers 5, 6, 15 and 25. No jackpot winner. Match-three winners Ellen Kelly, Connie Morris, Una Kavanagh, c/o Bingo. Each received €35.
Next week’s lotto will be held in Marshalstown Community Centre on Thursday, October 20, when the jackpot will be €4,600. Thank you for your continued support.
SOCIAL DANCE
A social dance in aid of Castledockrell NS on October 30, from 9.30 p.m. to midnight in Dooleys Shed, Rathnure.
