Coláiste Bríde ladies relive school memories at 30 year reunion
CELEBRATIONS were in order for 28 Coláiste Bríde past pupils, who came from near and far to mark 30 years since they last walked through the school doors.
Ladies came from Italy, London and various destinations in Ireland for the Class of 1986 Reunion in The Bailey in Enniscorthy. It was like they had never parted, as everyone shared memories and laughter about days gone by.
Organiser Claire Cullen said that they had a fabulous night.
‘Everything was great, from the venue from the food to the music. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the numbers that we expected but the people who did turn up had a great night,’ she said. ‘It didn’t stop us from enjoying ourselves.’
This was the second time that the ladies had regrouped since leaving school in 1986. Despite numbers being low this time, Claire said she would happily organise another reunion.
‘ To be honest at first, I would have said I wouldn’t organise another but on reflection, I would say yes. Even if you only get 28, it’s such good fun. Now we have a lot more contacts for people so I am going to create a database for next time.’
The reunion was organised by Claire along with Rachel Deegan, who coordinated the event Facebook page from her home in London before flying over to celebrate. In an online statement after the event, Rachel thanked everyone for coming along on the night and helping with the organisation.
She concluded by saying: ‘Good friends are like stars. You don’t always see them but you know they’re always there.’
