COMMUNITY GAMES

Chess and Draughts resume this Tuesday, November 8, from seven to 8.30 p.m. in Bree Hall. All children from eight years to 16 years are welcome. Cost is €1 per child.

The Bree-Davidstown Community Games annual Church Gate Collection takes place in the parishes of Bree and Davidstown this weekend. Your support would be appreciate­d.

GALBALLY PLAYSCHOOL

The AGM of the Galbally Community Playschool Committee will take place this Tuesday, November 8, at 8.30 p.m. in Galbally National School. Everyone is very welcome to attend.

BREE ICA

There will be a committee meeting of Bree ICA on Tuesday, November 8, at 8 p.m. in Bree Community Centre. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 15, at 7.30 p.m. in the Church of the Assumption Bree in remembranc­e of past and deceased members of the Guild. This will be followed by a Guild meeting in Bree Community Centre.

GALBALLY NS QUIZ

Scoil Eoin Baiste parents’ associatio­n are organising their annual fundraiser table quiz this Saturday, November 12, in Ryan’s Pub Galbally. The Quiz starts art 9 p.m. and all are welcome.

CLOTHING COLLECTION

The parents’ associatio­n of Bree National School are holding a Used Clothing Collection this Thursday, November 10, (6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.) and Friday, November 11, (8.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.). All bags can be left at Bree Community Centre between these times. All clothing, household textiles, soft toys, shoes, handbags and belts collected. All support would be greatly appreciate­d.

SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife, son, daughter, relations and friends of John Joe O’Leary, Wilton who died last week. His remains were interred in Clonmore Graveyard last Friday following mass in Bree.

YOUTH CLUB NEWS

Bree Youth Club’s split-thepot fundraiser is up and running. Envelopes are available in local shops and at Youth Club each Friday night. Draw will take place on the last Friday of each month. Please support this venture as all funds raised will go back into the youth club.

Orders for Youth Club halfzips for members are now being taken. Orders can be placed on Friday, November 4, Wednesday, November 9, and Friday, November 11. Prices are as follows: Kids – €28; Age 13/14 – €30; Adults X Small to four XL – €35. Prices include initials and club crest. All items must be paid for at the time of ordering.

Preparatio­ns are under way for our first variety show which will take place in December. Anyone wishing to take part should at- tend auditions and rehearsals in Galbally Hall each Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Extra rehearsals will be arranged in the coming weeks. This is sure to be a great family event and will give the kids, and some of the adults, a chance to show off their many talents.

Congratula­tions to the under-12 Soccer team who won the County Final. Well done to AJ Cooper, Jamie Fitzpatric­k, Adam Cairney, Lachlan Meehan, Odhran Kehoe, Dylan Delaney, Craig Rochford and Oisín Rochford and their manager Larry Delaney. The club was also represente­d by the under-15 team of Conor Rodgers, Alan Doyle, Ronan Page, Jack Kinsella, Joe Cahill, Shane Sinnott and Adam Broaders.

Congratula­tions to the members of the under-18 and under-15 Quiz teams who were victorious in the county finals recently. The under-18 team of Shane Roche, Owen Sherlock, Colm Parnell and Lorraine Windsor with Sarah Byrne as substitute will now go on to represent Bree Youth Club and County Wexford in the National Youth Games finals next summer. They will be joined by the under-15 team of Gilly Phelan, Mary Byrne, Emily Jordan and Ciara O’Leary.

Thanks to Larry Delaney, Josephine Blythe and Ciara Byrne who recently completed adult leader training. They will now assist with supervisio­n at club activities. The club appreciate­s the time given by these and all our leaders, without whom we could not cater for the number of members that we have. We encourage more parents to become leaders to help with the running of the club. If interested, please give your name to any committee member.

Peter Rodgers, Beth Murphy, Owen Murphy, Amy Carney and Sarah Byrne are currently training with FDYS to become Senior Member Leaders. A further group of senior members will be trained after Christmas. They are Colm Parnell, Sinéad Kinsella, Cian Wickham, Oran French and Seán Kashinka.

WHO’S GOT TALENT

After seven years the return of ‘Who’s Got Talent’ hosted in Bree Community Centre is finally on its way with cash prizes. This year the talent competitio­n will consist of three heats and one Grand Final over two nights as follows
