WONDERFUL WINTERLAND!

WEXFORD PEOPLE WEXFORD ON ICE, SANTA’S TRAIN, COMEDY GIGS, MOVIES AND MORE ON THE WAY

-

The countdown to Christmas will officially begin when the annual Wexford Winterland Festival kicks off on November 25.

The festivities will get underway on Saturday November 26 when the Christmas Parade runs through the town before the Christmas lights are switched on for another year.

Throughout the festival, the town will play host to a wide array of events. The Wexford People Wexford on Ice will glide into town from November 25 and it is expected to attract big crowds once more. Two movie screens, a light show, giant Christmas trees and of course, the view of Wexford Harbour will serve as the backdrop for one of the most popular attrac- tions of the festive season. Alongside the rink, there will be an an ice cafe stocked with hot chocolate and plenty of other winter warmers. A festival fairground will be held in Selskar Square while Christmas movies are also sure to get people feeling festive. It will be steam ahead for Santa’s Train once again and everyone can hop on board from November 27 until December 16. Passengers can enjoy the sights of Wexford while listening to Christmas stories from none other than Santa himself. Santa’s train will leave Wexford Bullring, travel down to Wexford Quay to see the Ice Rink, visit the Christmas Trees on the Quay and in Redmond Square, and finally back along the main street to see the festive lights and hear the Christmas music. For the adults, Wexford Comedy Club will present some Christmas comedy in the run up to December 25 with gigs from Tommy Tiernan, Neil Delamere and Jason Byrne. Elsewhere, organisers have lined up some gigs including a show from Declan O’Rourke in Greenacres. More concerts will be announced in the runup to the event. To add to the Christmas cheer, Wexford is going to at- tempt to beat two Guinness World Records: one for the largest number of Christmas jumpers in one place and one for the largest number of Christmas crackers being pulled simultaneously. Both will take place on Wexford Quay during Christmas week.

The event will run until Sunday January 8 and tickets are available online and at the box office. The Wexford Winterland Box Office is open at 1 North Main Street (top of Anne Street), and tickets for events are available there or on www.wexfordwinterland.com
