CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL IN ST MARY’S CHURCH

-

ENNISCORTHY and Monart Union of parishes will be holding a Christmas Tree Festival in St. Mary’s church, Enniscorthy from Thursday, December 1 until Sunday, December 4. The festival, which can be compared to a flower festival in many ways, seeks to tell the story of Christmas and the story of the local community through the medium of Christmas trees. Each tree will be uniquely made or decorated to tell its part in the story.

Businesses, organisations, sports teams, charities, churches and schools have all agreed to submit Christmas trees decorated in such a way that it tells the story of that group and their role in the community. There will be plenty of creativity and exciting ideas on display in the church.

The aim of the festival is to create a community celebration of Christmas and at the same time to raise funds for both St. Vincent de Paul and the church fund. Entrance is free but donations will be gratefully accepted in the church.

On Friday, December 2, at 8pm there will be a Service of Thanksgiving ‘amongst the trees’ and all are very welcome. The closing service will take place on Sunday, December 4, at 11.30am when the choir shall be joined by Enniscorthy Gospel Choir.

The event has been sponsored by Wexford County Council. All are welcome to visit the Christmas Tree Festival and celebrate the wonder of Christmas and the blessings of community.
