SARAHKATE ON TOP OF THE WORLD WITH MODEL FINAL SPOT
SARAHKATE Roche proved that she can certainly walk the walk when she was named one of the 50 finalists in the Top Model Worldwide model search competition.
The 16-year-old Enniscorthy girl was chosen from 2,500 participants for a place in the grand final next year. In March, she will jet to the Hilton London Metropole to compete against 49 other budding models from around the world.
Speaking of her success, Bridgemeadow native Sarahkate said she was both ‘surprised and delighted’.
‘I was really shocked because I have never done anything like this before. I have always been interested in the whole concept of modelling so when this competition came up, I just had to enter,’ said Sarahkate, who is a sixth year student in Colaiste Bride in Enniscorthy. ‘I honestly don’t know where I see myself in a few years. I will just see where it will take me.’
Sarahkate will fly to London in March with her family and friends in tow. One of her supporters will be mother Geraldine, who will help her to pick out a dress for the event and stay with her every step of the way.
‘I have never been as proud of her. This is the first time she has done anything like this so it’s fantastic that she has gotten so far,’ she said.
‘We are really happy for her. She is doing her Leaving Cert this year as well. No matter what happens, she is doing her Leaving before anything else.’
Getting through to the final will score Sarahkate a modelling contract and if she is named a winner, she will become one of the ‘faces’ of Top Model Worldwide.
On the back of her success, Sarahkate has also been chosen to represent Ireland in the Face of the Globe competition 2017. It will see her join other finalists in events in London and Paris next year, ending in a finale in Disneyland Paris.
