Parcels of land sold at auction

A PARCEL 25 acres of tillage land at Ballamon, Ferns, went under the hammer of auctioneer David Quinn of Quinn Property recently with a guide of €275,000. There were several bidders in the Carnew auction room, and when the offers reached €305,000, it was placed on the market. It sold to a local dairy farmer for €350,000.

Also in recent weeks, 22 acres at Jamestown, Oylegate, sold for €195,000 to a local dairy farmer. It included two acres of flood plain at the Slaney. The guide was €170,000.

A guide of €500,000 was placed on 67 acres with a derelict farmhouse and outbuildin­gs at Ballinglen, Tinahely. A packed auction room saw it sell in three separate lots for €660,000.

Six acres went for €65,000 to a local farmer. A local lady bought the house and yard with four acres for €145,000, and an adjoining farmer bought 57 acres for €450,000.

Elsewhere, a guide of €10,000 per acre was placed on 21.5 acres at Ballyknock­an, The Ballagh. It was withdrawn from auction at €190,000, and is now under negotiatio­n with several interested parties.

Next up for auction at Quinn Property on Tuesday, November 29, is 11.5 acres at Baltyfarre­ll, Gorey which will be auctioned in the Quinn Property Gorey office at 3 p.m.

It includes a farmyard, slatted shed, a silage pit and planning permission for a residence. It is guided at between €10,000 to €12,000 per acre.
