Murphy’s horses head the price list

HORSES FROM Denis Murphy’s Ballyboy, The Ballagh, stables topped the price lists at the Tattersall­s Ireland Cheltenham Sale on Friday evening with two recent winners fetching a total of £550,000.

Poli Roi (Poliglote-Belle Du Roi), a four-year-old bay gelding which won in impressive style at Rockfield, Roscommon, on Sunday week, was knocked down to Gordon Elliott Racing for a cool £300,000 after a bidding war.

Not far behind was Finian’s Oscar, a bay gelding out of Os- car-Trinity Alley, which had won impressive­ly up north a couple of weeks ago. This one went for £250,000 to Tom Malone/Colin Tizzard racing.

The Murphy stable also consigned Manitowoc (a bay gelding by Darsi-Murphy’s Appeal) and this went to Pat Martin for £30,000.

Some other sales included: Colin Bowe’s Milestone stable got £75,000 for De Dollar Man (Vinnie Roe-Dollar Bay) from English trainer, Evan Williams;

Talkischea­p (Getaway-Carrig- moorna) was put up by Donnchadh Doyle’s Monbeg Stables and fetched £55,000, and his brother, Seaán, got £35,000 for Forgetthes­malltalk (a gelding by Flemensfir­th- Mylane du Charmil);

Bordeaux Bill (Craigsteel-Lara Croft), John Berry’s (Blackwater) recent five-year-old geldings’ maiden winner at Dowth, in Meath, went for £30,000 to Pat Martin, and Liam Kenny’s Ballydarra­gh, Craanford, stable got £25,000 for Jalamie (Mustameet-Caulfield Lady).
