Special offers in store to mark Síopa Linn’s first birthday

-

SIOPA Linn in Tara Hill is marking its first birthday this month, and to celebrate, various special offers will be in store to tempt customers in the coming weeks.

Proprietor Elizabeth Mulligan said it’s been a busy year with many ups and downs, but they are happy with how the business has developed. Summer was a particularly busy period, and the new ‘ Tree Top Treats’ ice cream bar which was introduced, went down a treat.

The independent grocer has a very strong local ethos. ‘Our aim as much as we can is to support local producers and artisan foods,’ she said ‘We stock producers such as Ciara’s Pantry, Christy Byrne meats, Tara Hill honey, Wicklow farmhouse cheese, and potatoes from Michael Kenny and Joe Roche.

A big focus at this time of the year is keeping warm, and Siopa Linn has stocked up on a range of top quality Stafford’s Fuel products including coal, nuggets, briquettes and stove coal, as well as gas cylinders, kindling, and logs in large and small quantities. Gas and coal can be delivered.

In the grocery section, Siopa Linn has everything you’d expect in a convenience store, from bread, milk and newspapers, to fresh fruit and veg, frozen food, sweets, and a selection of wines, including a nice range of Italian wines from ‘A Taste of Italy.’ Christmas sweets and biscuits will also be stocked.

The delicatessen offers rolls with fillings of your choice as well as homemade brown bread and scones which are very popular, while the coffee dock offers a place to sit and chat with a friend over a cuppa.

Siopa Linn is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, and Elizabeth is encouraging customers to continue to support their local retailer as often as they can. ‘I want to thank everyone who supported us over the past year,’ she said. ‘I’m delighted to have such good local support, and I encourage people to continue to shop local and to shop often, because without that support, small grocery shops like Siopa Linn will struggle. That support is needed all year round to keep the shop open.’

Everyone is looking forward to the local development group holding its community Santa evening with a traditional hill walk and carol service ending up in Siopa Linn in December. The date will be announced shortly.
