1 DAVID KITT: Wexford can start the weekend on a musical high as David Kitt will take to the mic in Wexford Arts Centre on Friday November 17. The solo performer will bring fans through a journey of his past, present and future with this one off show. He is expected to delight the audiences with many of his much-loved songs from his previous albums, as well as performing some of his lesser known tunes from his latest album The Nightsaver. Kitt is known for his ability to blend musical genres and has experiment­ed with everything from folk to 90s house and everything in between. Along with touring extensivel­y as a session musician and producer working for the likes of David Gray and Lisa O’Neill, he has also released several EP’s and remixes for the likes of the XX and Mano Le Tough under his New Jackson moniker, contribute­d to two albums by Tinderstic­ks and played in big-name shows and festivals across the country. The gig will begin at 8.30 p.m. and tickets are available from the Wexford Arts Centre as well as online for €15 each. 2 THE 4 OF US: Following an extremely successful performanc­e alongside Something Happens at this year’s Spiegelten­t festival, The 4 of Us will return to Wexford once again for a one-off gig in the Wexford Arts Centre on November 19. They will play their critically acclaimed acoustic show, showcasing songs from their new album, as well as songs from their extensive back catalogue. From their first hit ‘Mary’ through to their chart hit ‘Sunlight’, the band has notched up over two decades of radio hits and six top 20 charting albums. Their show will kick off at 8.30 p.m. in Wexford Arts Centre. Tickets cost €20 and are available online and from the centre. 3 ANDREW MAXWELL: Andrew Maxwell returns to Wexford with a brand new show ‘Yo Contraire’, having performed it to sell out crowds at festivals from Edinburgh to Australia. You’ve seen him star on shows such as ‘The Panel’ and ‘Monumental’, ‘One Night Stand’, ‘Conspiracy Roadtrip’ and ‘Live at the Apollo’ – now see him live in Greenacres Art Gallery on Friday November 18 at 8 p.m. Tickets cost €20 from Lantern.ie. 4 WOMEN’S STRUGGLES FROM 1900 TO 1980 TALK: Graiguenam­anagh Historical Society is holding a talk on ‘The Political, Military and Social Struggle of the Women of Ireland from 1990 to 1980’ on Friday at 8 p.m. in Graiguenam­anagh Library. The talk will be given by Graiguenam­anagh Historical Society member Ray Talbot and everyone is invited to attend what should be a fascinatin­g talk for women, as well as men. 5 CYCLE AGAINST SUICIDE ORANGE TIE BALL: The Orange Tie Ball in aid of Cycle Against Suicide takes place this Saturday night, November 19, in The Ashdown Park Hotel, Gorey. It begins with a mulled wine reception at 7 p.m., and a four course meal at 8 p.m. Dancing afterwards to the Pat Fitz Band and a DJ. The event has been organised to celebrate the work that family, friends, and communitie­s do for Cycle Against Suicide, and to raise funds for the charity. A limited number of tickets at €50 are available on 087 3389449. Formal attire with a hint of orange. 6 THE FUREYS. Legendary band the Fureys will take to the stage at the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y on Sunday, November 20 at 8.30pm. The band which have been playing together for the past 36 years and still have a huge following. Tickets for the concert are €25. The band is currently in the middle of a UK and Irish tour promoting their latest CD ‘The Times they are a changing’ which was launched on Monday, September 15. The CD is a collection of songs which the band has been intending to record for the past number of years and include well known songs by artists such as Boy Dylan and Joni Mitchell. 7 LAUNCH OF ‘HALF A WORLD AWAY’: Gorey’s Ian Lacey has compiled words and images from his epic 27,000km pan-American cycle from Alaska to Argentina in a new book titled ‘Half a World Away; which will be launched in Gorey Library on Saturday, November 19, at 3 p.m. The 30-year-old cycled unsupporte­d from Deadhorse, Alaska, all the way down to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, between July 2011 and October 2012, raising funds for the Carers Associatio­n of Ireland along the way. Friends and family helped raise €30,000 for the charity. All are welcome along to the launch and to chat to Ian about the challenges he faced and the incredible people he met along the way.
