Toastmasters enjoy informative meeting
ENNISCORTHY Toastmasters club paid a warm welcome to International Director of Toastmasters Teresa Dukes who jetted in to Enniscorthy for the recent club meeting.
Teresa paid a visit to Wexford as part of her ambassadorship of the UK and Ireland and served as guest of honour on the evening. Along with being a speaker, trainer and coach at Dukes Consultancy, she is certified as a world class speech coach whose clients include CEOs, apprentices, high school students and small to medium size enterprises. Dukes also works as an associate trainer for Speakers Trust – a charitable public speaking organization that specializes in training and educating the not-for-profit and community.
As a member of the Toastmasters International Board of Directors, Teresa is a ‘working ambassador’ for the organisation. She works with the Board to develop, support and modify the policies and procedures that guide Toastmasters International in fulfilling its mission.
Speaking of the idea behind the group she said: ‘Toastmasters means courage, opportunity and challenge: the courage to share ideas where they are heard, the opportunity to develop skills at your own pace, and the challenge to help others grow.’
‘Toastmasters not only grow personally and professionally, but are ready and able to grow their communities and businesses as well.’
Other guests at the meeting included Division Director Billy Daly, Club Development Director Patricia O’Connell and Public Relations Manager of Toastmasters district 71 Karen O’Donnell. The meeting was hosted by club president Maria Sinnott and by Patricia Doyle as Toastmaster and several speeches were made by local members.
