HOUSE OF STORIES

There was a large attendance at Ballindagg­in House of stories on Thursday, November 11, where a great night was enjoyed with top classic stories and recitation­s and indeed tall tales too. Everyone sang along with the fantastic musicians who raised the roof with their rousing music and there was some lovely renditions from the singers on the night.

A vote of sympathy was passed to Tony Malone on the death of his mother. Prayerful good wishes were extended to Denis North and Séamus Clinch and all who are unwell at present. Congratula­tions was extended to Emily Sinnott (grand daughter of Ted and Carmel) who won the regional final of Irish Step dancing and congratula­tions also to her teacher Cait Doyle who had many winners on the day.

LATE THOMAS O’LEARY

The death occurred on Tuesday, November 15, of Thomas (Tom) O’Leary, Griffith Avenue, Kiltealy. In his 85th year, Tom had been ill for some time prior to his passing. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Biddy and sons Matt and Pat and also to his sister Mary brothers Matt and Phil, daughters-in-law Trudy and Ann, grandchild­ren Thomas, Matthew, Katie and Seán and extended family and friends.

Tom, as he was known to all, was a most popular and esteemed member of the community. He was born and raised in Tomgarrow, Ballycarne­y and moved to Kiltealy following his marriage. A keen sportsman he had a great knowledge of the GAA.and in his younger days was a skilled hurler and he was a dedicated follower of Duffry Rovers and Wexford teams.

Prior to his retirement he was employed by Wexford County Council and after work loved to go cycling for pleasure, a pastime he enjoyed well into his seventies.

Tom will be fondly remembered by all but especially by his loving family. Interment took place in Kiltealy Cemetery on Thursday following funeral Mass in Kiltealy Church. May he rest in peace.

DUFFRY ROVERS NEWS

There were 48 players at the recent Duffry Rovers poker classic held in Jordan’s Lounge, Ballindagg­in. The following were the winners; first €450 Pauline Redmond, Rathnure. Second €200, Margo Conway, Kildavin. Third €80, John Murphy, Mohurry Mills. Fourth €70, Mick Carter, Camolin. There was four runner up prizes of €50 each won by Patrick Jordan, Ballindagg­in. Declan Doyle, Ballindagg­in. Marie Byrne, Rathnure and Noel Brown, Gorey. The club would like to thank all who took part and Jordan’s for the use of the lounge and food on the night.

The Duffry Rovers AGM will be held in Kiltealy Community Hall on December 9 at 8 p.m. The new stand and walking track at Coolree will be completed this week and will be officially opened in early December.

SYMPATHY

Deepest sympathy is extended to Pakie Cowman and family, Coonogue on the recent passing of his sister Maureen Cowman, Ballymoon, Bagenalsto­wn. Interment took place in Bagenalsto­wn Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

SOCIAL AND TEA

The November social and tea will be held in Kiltealy Community Hall this Friday, November 25. Music on the night by K-Jo. Refreshmen­ts served.
