HAPPY RETIREMENT

Congratula­tions to Richie Wall on his recent retirement following 42 years working for An Post, 28 years of which were spent as postman in the Ballycarne­y area where he is remembered with fondness by all. Wishing him health and happiness now and for the future. Richie enjoy your retirement and thank you.

PIONEER DINNER DANCE

The annual Pioneer dinner dance will take place on Wednesday, November 23, at 8.30 p.m. in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y. Tickets at €30 are available at the door. Music by Billy Kirwan. This will be preceded by Mass for the deceased members of the Pioneer Associatio­n in St Senan’s Church, Enniscorth­y at 7.30 p.m.

Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Tom O’Leary who died recently. May he rest in peace.

STORYTELLI­NG

The next session of Storytelli­ng in Castledock­rell Hall is on Thursday, December 15, at 8 p.m. If you have never been why not come along for some good entertainm­ent the week before Christmas. There will be a raffle on the night. Teas served.

Marshalsto­wn-Castledock­rell GAA. Adult Club AGM is in Farmleigh Club House on Sunday, December 4. Time will be announced next week.

Marshalsto­wn camogie club annual general meeting is on Friday, December 2, at 8 p.m. in the club house, Farmleigh. Parents and adult players are asked to attend.

SCHOOL PROJECT

Folklore and local history material from Counties Wexford, Wicklow and Carlow have been uploaded to the National Folklore Collection­s free website duchas. ie the material is from schools collection­s which contains folklore material recorded by pupils between 1937 and 1939. It consists of more than half a million pages of handwritte­n stories and reports noted by some 50,000 primary school children across the 26 counties.

Included in this material are many gems of local interest written by pupils from 11 to 14 years from Castledock­rell NS, Marshalsto­wn NS and Monart NS. It gives an interestin­g insight of the parish in times past and has the names of the children who wrote the stories and their teachers. The website is duchas.ie.
