Oulart pupils on song with new CD
Scoil Mochua, Oulart’s national school, has produced a CD with music and song by the students which will be launched at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30 at Oulart Community Hall.
The school has a rich heritage of music and an abundance of talent.
Ably assisted by teachers Carmel Codd and Noreen Lenihan, the CD was facilitated by Resource Teacher and Music Group co-ordinator Hamish Stuart, the CD contains songs of mixed genre by students from Junior Infants up to 6th class with the school’s Music Group playing a mix of tin whistle, keyboard, accordion, flute, banjo and guitar.
‘Crocodile Rock’, ‘Count on me’, ‘Sing a Rainbow’, ‘Best Day of my Life’ and ‘ The Battle of Oulart Hill’ are just some of the tunes which made the final cut. Parents of Scoil Mochua students play a key role in fundraising for the school. Accomplished musician Tomasz Osinski, one such parent stepped in to arrange, produce and record the CD. Many hours of work later Tomasz has produced a piece of work professionally compiled to appeal to any audience.
The school has recently performed at the Sing Out Loud concert in the Opera House, last year in Kilkenny at the Peace Proms and the Music Group has in previous years competed in the Scor Competitions and at County level.
CDs will be available for sale on the night at a special price of €8 or two for €15. They will subsequently be available in the school and local businesses for €10 or two for €18.
All funds from the CD will go towards vital IT systems for the school.
