Special booklet at Re-enactment society’s AGM
The AGM of Enniscorthy Historical Re-enactment Society was held last Tuesday December 6 at the Athenaeum.
In his chairman’s address, Ray Murphy complimented the group saying that they had participated in 85 events in 13 different counties during the year and not alone were they extremely well turned out on each and every occasion but conducted themselves with dignity and decorum at all events.
He thanked his fellow officers – secretary Bridget Murphy, treasurer Peter Freeman, assistant treasurer Paul Murphy, PRO Maria Nolan and quartermaster Graham Cadogan. He thanked Enniscorthy Town Manager Padraig O’Gorman, Sean Og Doyle, Cathy Keane, Wexford County Council and the many groups and organisations that EHRS had been involved with over the 12-month period. He congratulated member David Owens who recently received the Wicklow Man of the Year Award in recognition of his wonderful contribution to 2016, and he had special mention for Frank Murphy and all who had assisted with drilling and training both locally and at Collins Barracks, Dublin.
Secretary’s report and treasurer’s report followed with secretary Bridget thanking all who had assisted her and treasurer’s report detailing all income and expenditure for the 2016 period.
The following were elected to the 2017 committee: chair Ray Murphy, vice chair Paul Murphy, secretary Bridget Murphy, asst secretary Margaret O’Neill, treasurer Peter Freeman, asst treasurer Tim Corrigan, PRO Maria Nolan and quartermaster Graham Cadogan.
One of the highlights of the AGM was the presentation to all members of a commemorative booklet compiled by PRO Maria Nolan recording events attended by the members in 2016.
One of these commemorative booklets will be presented to the Athenaeum to be placed in a sealed time capsule to be opened at the 125th or 150th Anniversary celebrations.
