2017 Bellefield GAA committee elected
The Annual General Meeting of the Rapparees/Starlights GAA club was held in the Bellefield Clubhouse on Sunday December 11.
The well-attended meeting heard that club finances were stable and heading in the right direction but expenses such as equipment, injuries and gear were still very high and needed to be examined closer in the New Year.
Chairman John Browne was re-elected unopposed for the third consecutive year and in his address paid tribute to a hard-working executive committee, particularly officers secretary Ger McVeigh, treasurer Kathleen Miller, PRO Maria Nolan and all those who were working week in and week out on lotto, bingo, race night and all the other club fundraisers that help to alleviate the burden of running the club from one year to the next.
John thanked all mentors and coaches with all teams – underage, adult, and ladies.
Before the meeting concluded John called for all to stand for a minute’s silence for former chairman Donal Minnock who passed to his eternal reward during the week, saying that Donal had made a major contribution to the Rapparees/Starlights over his terms in office.
The following were elected to the Committee for 2017: chairman John Browne, secretary Ger McVeigh, treasurer Kathleen Miller, PRO Maria Nolan, Michael Doyle, Ed Doran, Hugo Kelly, Tom Boland, Jason Sheridan, Podge Hall, Brian Hogan, Judy Browne, Pat Tobin, Seamus Doyle and John Tobin.
