Tasty finals this Friday

-

CONSECUTIVE nights racing was the order last week as the postponed card frozen off the Friday night previous was run on Thursday night.

Owners Andrew and Philip Lynch were not complaining as they won the first two races; the semi-finals of the Friday night’s racing unraced stake with ‘Toker Rio’ and ‘Creek’ and they will have a strong hand in this Friday night’s final.

There will be several nice finals on offer this Friday night and the Dinny Byrne bitch will be interesting as both ‘Bubba Maggie’ and ‘Womans Champ’ both impressed in their semi-finals.

‘Womans Champ’ is flying the lids of late and that may prove vital on the run to the first bend in the final.

The Glenbrien Kennels A4/5 final will be a competitive race and sponsor Kathleen Stamp had a good night when her ‘Glenbrien Sparky’, who won one of the semi-finals, and ‘Nifty’ gave her a nice double in races five and seven.

‘Glenbrien sparky’ has now won 25 races and age is not proving a hindrance as he has past his fifth birthday and has his chance to record another win in this week’s final.

Enniscorthy owner Dermot Flynn also had a good week when his Tagalong prefix were to the fore with ‘Tagalong Dicey’ winning the other semi-final of the Glenbrien Stake on Thursday night while on Friday night big boy ‘Tagalong Hawkeye’, all of 88lb, scored in race five and Dermot completed a fine treble of wins when turning out ‘Tagalong Roisin’ to win race four at Waterford on Saturday night. And, not to be left out, his brother James recorded a fine double on the same card to complete a great week when ‘Rathbally Chin’ and ‘Tank’ won races seven and eight.

Back to Enniscorthy, there were two sub 29 second runs, one on either night. Race seven on Thursday night saw ‘Hey Seamus’ recover his best form and he broke the ray just under the 29 second mark.

On Friday night the best was left to last as ‘Rocky Dee Rocket’overcame his trap six draw to score in a very good 28.81 for his delighted young owner Master Dean O Leary.
