Decent prices for Model horses

-

A number of Wexford trained horses were sold at the Tattersalls Ireland sale after racing at Cheltenham on Friday and some very decent prices were achieved, with the total paid exceeding half a million pounds sterling.

The Denis Murphy (Ballyboy, The Ballagh) trained, Alan Harte owned King of Kilmeague, a son of King’s Theatre who was second on his debut, was bought by Kieran McManus for £150,000.

The horse that beat him, Stewart Crawford’s Cool Getaway, sold for a very cool £305,000.

Murphy’s Big Penny, a four year old Oscar filly, won by ten lengths at Tattersalls farm on the same day and she went for quite a few pennies at £70,000.

Colin Bowe’s Milestone Stables was also active with three sales noted. Its Your Move, a Milan filly that won well at Boulta a couple of weeks ago, impressed enough to fetch £95,000 from Kieran McManus.

Rosie McQueen, a Flemensfirth bay gelding, that recently won at Mainstown got £50,000, and there was £40,000 paid for Doumba, a son of Royal Dragon, from the same source.

Vouvray, a five year old by gelding by Califet, was trained by Liz Doyle to win at Mainstown, Kilkenny, two weeks ago for her mother, former politician, Avril, and was sold for £35,000.

Save the Pennies, a Shantou mare from the Ashleigh and Michael Murphy yard at Duncormick got £18,500.

From the track, Fayonagh was a shock 33/1 bumper winner for Richie Rath (Screen) and his quartet of owners from the Rosslare area at Naas in November and the Kalanisi mare fetched £64,000.
