Hard Luck to our under-21 footballers who lost out to the Shelmaliers in the premier final on Sunday. In a tight game we led 0-3 to 0-2 at half time, having had the better start. Although the second half saw both teams working hard for possession, the Shels were more clinical in front of goal and won 0-8 to 0-4. The team was: Ben Turner, Martin Redmond, Oisin Foley, Conor Gormley, Conor Barlow, David Kehoe, Eoin O’Connor, Paddy Devereux, Pádraig Foley, Conor Maddock, Robert Byrne, Ronan Devereux, Glen Murphy (0-4, four frees) Cormac O’Rourke and Oran Maddock. Subs: Shane Whelan for C Gormley and Luke Redmond for D Kehoe, James White, Bill Eviston, Sam Kelly, Evan Kinlough, Lorcan Leacy, Lorcan Cummins, Cathal Devereux and Robert Murphy.

Despite the disappointing result we have had a good couple of years at under-21, winning Roinn one in 2014, doing the double at premier level in 2015 and putting up a very good title defence this year. Thanks to our players and mentors for all their hard work during the year.

Christmas Draw: Crossabeg-Ballymurn GAA club are holding a Christmas raffle, with a first prize of €1,000, second prize is a load of fire wood. Third and forth prizes of €100 and a fifth prize of lunch for two in the Riverbank Hotel. Tickets on sale at €5 each or three for €10. Please support.

CHRISTMAS GATHERING

Our Christmas Gathering was a great success and enjoyed by all on Sunday the fourth in our Parish Hall. Our deceased family members and friends were remembered at Mass. May they rest in peace.

We had plenty of dancing, songs from Owen Gordon, John Jackman and recitations by Bridie Murphy and Pat Barry. There was also a lot of chat and plenty of reminiscence.

We would like to thank Peter Doyle, Daybreak Supermarket Ballymurn, for his generous donation of the Turkey/Ham and the use his facilities, Ballymurn Youth Club for their generous contribution of monies/spot prizes, Hughie Byrne, Paul and Theresa Larrissy, John and Breda Redmond, Dockrell’s, The Carpet Gallery, Oggy’s Burger Bar, Pierces, Frying Irishman, Enniscorthy Credit Union and all the people who contributed monies, food and the enormous amount of spot prizes received.

A special thanks to our Community Employment participants for all their work, the catering team who were joined again this year by girls and boys from our Youth Club. These young people are brilliant, hard working with excellent interpersonal skills and willingly took direction from their leaders; they are a credit to their families.

We thank John Doyle who gave his time to join Paddy and Shay on the night. Thanks for the music and to all who entertained us on the night.
