Auctioneering firm in computer network

December 1987

-

Wexford auctioneers, Kehoe & Haythornthwaite, have plugged into the new nationwide ‘Link’ computer network, which pools property listings from across the country.

According to partner, Adrian Haythornthwaite, the ‘Link’ service alerts auctioneers across the country to properties and enquiries at the touch of a button.

‘It is ideal for a person transferred to Wexford or who is being posted from Wexford,’ said Mr Haythornthwaite. ‘A person being moved to Wexford can find out what properties are available here through his Link auctioneer, or find out what properties are available elsewhere on the spot in Wexford.’

And ‘Link’ listings of properties and enquiries that use ‘Link’ will cost nothing extra. ‘Clietns will get the same service of agents nationwide for the same single fee,’ said Mr Haythornthwaite.

While it sounds very futuristic and like something from a science fiction film, Mr Haythornthwaite actually predicts that the day might come when computer records are the main form of information for property listings.

‘We are already seeing ourselves the benefit of being able to get so much information at the touch of a button. As technology develops and becomes more accessible to more people, I can see the day coming when even ordinary people will be able to go on to a computer and get information about properties for sale in other parts of the country,’ he said.
