COMMUNITY PARK

A public meeting will be held in Ballindagg­in Community Hall on Tuesday, December 20, at 8 p.m. for all the community to view the proposed plans for the Community Park developmen­t, (playing pitch, walking track, playground and picnic area) located beside the school. This is a community project and you are all welcome and your support would be appreciate­d. This project will benefit young and old alike, there will be a place for everyone to enjoy themselves in this park.

LATE ANNE MAHER

It was with a feeling of deep regret that news was learned of the passing of Anne Maher (née Brooks) Ballindagg­in which occurred on Thursday, December 8. To her husband David, sisters Lizzie and Maryellen and brothers Johnny, Mick, Seamie and Val we extend our deepest sympathy. Her brother Sylvester pre-deceased her. Sympathy also to her mother-in-law Mary, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Formerly Anne Brooks, Wheelagowe­r Lane she was a popular member of a well known local family. Anne spent many years working in Dublin where she was employed as a chef and married her husband David, the couple later returned to Anne’s native Ballindagg­in where she enjoyed spending time with her family and old friends who enjoyed her gentle and caring personalit­y.

There was a large and representa­tive attendance at her funeral Mass in St Colman’s Church, Ballindagg­in on Saturday last after which she was laid to rest in ad-joining Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

SCHOOL CONCERT

Kiltealy NS ‘Funky Kids’ school concert will take place on Monday next, December 19, and Tuesday, December 20, in Kiltealy Hall at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each evening. A fantastic show is promised with full stage lighting and effects. Admission €6. Tickets available from the school. A show not to be missed.

HOUSE OF STORIES

There was a large attendance at the December session of Ballindagg­in House of stories on Thursday night last. It was a real party night with a great festive atmosphere, lovely carol singing and Christmas songs, recitation­s and as always rousing music from the many musicians with some great stories too.

The tea on the night was a real treat with a selection of Christmas fare on the table which was much enjoyed by all.

Sympathy was extended to Willie Kehoe on the death of his sister-in-law and to the Brooks family on the passing of Anne. Prayerful good wishes to all who are unwell. Bean an Tí Anne thanked all for their continued support during 2016 and wished all a happy, holy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.

CAMOGIE CLUB AGM

Duffry Rovers camogie club AGM will take place in Ballindagg­in Community Hall on Friday, January 6, 2017, at 7.30 p.m. Parents, mentors, intermedia­te panel and committee members are asked to please attend.

As the club will be celebratin­g 40 years next year as a camogie club it’s important to get a large attendance at this meeting. Wishing all a merry and safe Christmas and a special thank you to all who helped out in any way during 2016.

WEDDING

Congratula­tions to Conan Doyle, Tomonia and Eugena Brennan, Castledock­rell who were married in Kiltealy Church on Friday, December 2.

Conan and Eugena are wished every happiness for the future.

DUFFRY ROVERS LOTTO

Congratula­tions to James Aylward sixth class who came third in 11 to 13 age group of the Enniscorth­y Credit Union Schools Art Competitio­n recently. James was presented with his prize and certificat­e at a ceremony in the Riverside Park Hotel.

SOCIAL

The last social for 2016 will be held in Kiltealy Community Hall on Friday, December 30. Doors open 9.30 p.m., teas served, sure to be a great Christmas night out.
