Enniscorth­y 17, Ashbourne 11: The Enniscorth­y seconds team produced a stirring performanc­e to beat visitors Ashbourne in their Leinster League encounter.

There were tries from Lee Treacy and two from Jim White, with David Shore adding two conversion­s.

Enniscorth­y were well served by Adam Coppen, Willie Dunne, Jim White, Lee Treacy and Evan Lett.

Enniscorth­y 34, Kilkenny 15: This was an excellent thirds match played by two teams who wanted to play rugby and run the ball.

Enniscorth­y effectivel­y won it because of their greater ability in the backs although Kilkenny did score first. Enniscorth­y re-grouped and out-half Cian Hogan weaved his way through a static defence after good work by Luke Cummins.

Ronan McCarthy scored the second try from close in and Cian Hogan kicked the conversion with ease.

Kilkenny would not go away and they added a second try just before half-time. It was 12-10 to the home team at the break.

Kilkenny upped the ante in the second-half and a superb back move ended with full-back Cathal Spratt breaking through the cover 25 metres from the line. His powerful run and pace saw him cross under the posts for the third try, with Hogan adding the conversion.

Enniscorth­y were now dominant and Luke Cummins got in for the fourth try, with Hogan adding the conversion to extend the lead.

Kilkenny came back with a close-in try to close the gap, but just before the final whistle Cian Hogan scored his second try to cement the victory.
