CTEC graduates praised at awards ceremony

THE annual presentati­on of Awards Ceremony for graduates of CTEC - the Community Training & Education Centre – took place last week at Clayton Whites Hotel in Wexford, drawing in past learners from throughout the county.

In her opening address, Training Manager Rachel Tucker welcomed the graduates and their families to the event, commended graduates on their achievemen­ts and thanked the CTEC tutors and staff for their work and their personal commitment to supporting their students to achieve their learning goals.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Deputy Mayor of Wexford Cllr Tony Dempsey congratula­ted the graduates on their academic success and praised CTEC for providing such a valuable learning and developmen­t service to County Wexford and beyond.

Maire Cooke from the Waterford County Childcare Committee addressed the gathering, adding her congratula­tions to the graduates and presented learners from Wexford and Waterford with QQI Advanced certificat­es in Early Childhood Care & Education supported through the Learner Fund.

CTEC Manager Patricia Howlin commented on how many of the graduates were now in employment due to gaining their qualificat­ions, noting that almost 80 per cent of graduates from the recent healthcare course employed locally. At the ceremony learners received the following certificat­es: QQI level 6 Special Purpose Award in Training & Developmen­t; QQI level 6 Advanced Certificat­es in Early Childhood Care & Education; QQI level 5 National Certificat­es in Early Childhood Care & Education; QQI level 5 National Certificat­es in Health Service Skills; ITEC & CIBTAC Beauty Therapy Diplomas; ECDL AND QQI Component Awards in Business at level 5 and 6.

CTEC’s Chairperso­n Ted Howlin and Board of Management members Michael Cash ( WWetb) and Madeleine Quirke, CEO of Wexford Chamber were also in attendance to celebrate with the learners and Kathryn Bermingham ( WWetb) presented certificat­es to learners from WWetb and KCetb funded programmes.
