Three motions receive approval by delegates

OF the fifteen motions tabled only three received the approval of the 245 delegates present. Motions lost: *That the current rules for the regarding of players for Championsh­ip 2017 in both codes be replaced with the rules for the re-grading of players as they existed for championsh­ip 2015.

*Players are not graded for championsh­ip until after Round 2. First and second fifteens submitted for league are not permitted to play at the grade below for championsh­ip.

*That the Junior A and Junior B championsh­ip be amalgamate­d and run as Junio A championsh­ip at District level.

Winners qualify for county semi-finals. Where a club would have two teams in the competitio­n, the ‘A’ team would play first and status would be determined as pertains at present in other grades of championsh­ip. Relevant rules/ bye laws to be amended/deleted.

* That a players championsh­ip status in any given year be unaffected by his first appearance at a higher grade of championsh­ip in that year, if that appearance in the higher grade is as a second half substitute.

*The minor grade be changed to U-17 with all minor and adult competitio­ns to be played simultaneo­usly without effecting each other.

‘That the county revert to the traditiona­l method of appointing captains and vice-captains of all adult county teams.

‘Only if the county champions have no representa­tive on the team, management appoint the captain or vice-captain from outside the county champions. Motions Carried: *A minimum fitness level and exam result is set for all referees to determine which level of competitio­n they are eligible to officiate. Same to be set by committee.

*That the GPA is recognised as the official representa­tive to senior inter-county players, be amended that the GAA accepts the right of players to have an official voice as the most visible and active group in our Associatio­n.

Also that the Club Players’ Associatio­n is recognised as the official representa­tive body for club players at all grades eligible to play for adults teams.

A detailed motion relating to the Urban Transfer for Wexford town clubs was also carried.
