SANTA DASH

The annual Santa Dash will be held in Coolgreany village on Saturday, December 31. This promises to be a fun event for the whole family. There is an option of a 5-mile run (8k) or a 5k fun run/walk. There are fantastic prizes on offer and lots of spot prizes. Registration: in the Coolgreany Inn from 11 a.m. The 5k starts at 11.45 a.m. with the 8k starting at midday.

The entry is €15 for the 8k and €10 entry for the 5k. Each participant will receive a Santa Dash technical T-shirt. Family rates also available: Refreshments and prize giving in the Coolgreany Inn after the race. For further information: check out the Croghan AC Facebook page.

18TH BIRTHDAY.

Congratulations to Maebh Byrne Croghan View who celebrated her 18th Birthday with her family and a host of friends in the Coolgreany Inn on last Friday night where everyone enjoyed a great night of entertainment and plenty of finger food.

WINTER SOLSTICE EVENING

A Festive Social Evening and winter Solstice Celebration was held in the May Byrne Trust House on last Sunday, December 18, at 6.30 p.m. A mulled wine reception was enjoyed by the large attendance present with plenty of Canopies and Finger Food, and lots more was enjoyed by all present. Thanks to everyone for their great support

BIRTHDAYS

Congratulations to Holly Hudson Newtown who celebrates her third birthday on Tuesday, December 20, and also Emma Boland, Knockgreany who celebrates her ninth birthday on Wednesday, December 21.

COMMUNITY ALERT

The group is appealing to all members of our community to be on the lookout for all our neighbours in this changing time of cold weather, and we ask you to call on and help those who may need a small bit of support over the coming weeks up to Christmas. It is always very important to be on the lookout for your neighbour and give a helping hand where possible in their time of need.

HANDBALL

Handball lotto this week is €8,300, tickets are available locally at €2, in Shorts, Coolgreany Post Office, O’Rafferty’s and Liam Clare. Select any four correct numbers to win or share the big money, or select three correct numbers to win or share €500. Your support would be very much appreciated.

Coolgreany Handball would like to apologise for having no lottery tickets this past week.

The tickets were sent by courier from Carlow and failed to arrive. We are unaware if the jackpot was won. Hopefully ticket sales will resume next week. We would like to wish everyone a happy Christmas and a healthy new year.
