TURKEY TROT 2016

Kildavin-Clonegal GAA Club’s annual Turkey Trot will take place on St Stephen’s Day. Registrati­on is at 10.45 a.m. in St Brigid’s hall, Clonegal. This year the walk will have an extra dimension to it. It will begin thanks to the generosity of the Durdin Robertson family with a short journey through the beautiful grounds of Huntington Castle, emerging opposite the Roman Catholic Church and continuing on the traditiona­l route. Anyone wishing to do this part of the walk only is more than welcome to.

There is no registrati­on fee. The event is free to all with donations accepted. There will be refreshmen­ts served and a raffle for anyone wishing to participat­e. Any money raised on the day will be shared between Kildavin-Clonegal GAA Club and Bunclody Day Care Centre.

FOOTBALL MATCH

On Tuesday, December 27, a Gaelic football match ‘with a difference’ will take place. Kildavin-Clonegal football clubs, current crop of players have thrown down the gauntlet to those who have played before, who would like to have played before and perhaps those who would like to give it a go for the first time. Throw in is at 2 p.m. in the Spellman Park, Kildavin. GAA rules will be creatively applied. Admission is free but donations will be accepted.

GAA LOTTO

The Kildavin-Clonegal GAA lotto was held in Conway’s Lounge, Kildavin on Sunday, December 11. Numbers drawn were 02, 10, 14 and 17. There was no winner of the jackpot of €4,600. Winner that matched three was, Matt Kavanagh, The Mill, receiving €150. Seller’s prize goes to David Doyle receiving €50. The next draw will take place in Dunne’s Lounge, Clonegal on Wednesday, December 28, with a jackpot worth €4,800.

PENNY BANK COMMITTEE

Another year has passed and the Penny Bank pay-out has come and gone. At this time we would like to thank all our members who saved during the last year with the Penny Bank. We would especially like to thank the girls who worked hard all year, without whose patience, accuracy and diligence there could be no Penny Bank. The committee wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and is looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

Christmas Masses in Clonegal and Kildavin are as follows. Clonegal – Christmas Eve: 6.30 p.m. and Christmas Day: 10 a.m. Kildavin – Christmas Eve: 9 p.m. and Christmas Day: 11.30 a.m.
