NEW YEAR’S DAY
GOAL MILE WALK Duncannon Beach, 12.30 p.m. Walkers who want to shed some festive pounds will gather on the beach for a refreshing walk. The walk raises money each year for the charity Goal, which is dedicated to alleviating the suffering of the poorest of the poor. Thanks to GOAL Mile organisers and participants, millions have been raised to support GOAL’s work in the developing world since the first Mile was staged in 1982.

BALLYMONEY NEW YEAR’S DAY SWIM
Ballymoney north beach, 12 midday The Tara Vale Swimmers invite all along to the north beach in Ballymoney for the annual New Year’s Day Swim, followed by an evening of music and festivities in The Tara Vale. Proceeds go to the Jack and Jill Foundation and North Wexford Hospice Trust. Sponsorship cards available in the Tara Vale or from committee members
CHARITY RUN
Quinns Mart, Carnew, 12.30 p.m. Charity walk, car, tractor and lorry run from Quinns Mart, Carnew. Registration will be open from 11.30 a.m. Entry for walkers is €10, and there is an option of two routes – easy and advanced. Car, tractors, and lorries are €20. Refreshments will be served afterwards in Coláiste Bhríde Carnew. All welcome. Enquiries to John Somers on 087 6578761. All proceeds to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust which aims to alleviate the financial hardships of bereaved families repatriating the body of a loved one who has died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances, back to Ireland.
