CHRISTMAS DAY BABY!

Baby Sophie Evered, who was born on Christmas Day in Wexford General Hospital, with her mother Ali Evered, from Castle Manor, Ferns. Sophie was born at 3.55 p.m. and weighed 7.71lbs.

EIGht babies were born on Christmas Day at Wexford General Hospital, in what was said to be one of the busiest days for some time in the maternity unit.

The first little bundle of joy to arrive was James Keane, from Wilkinstown, Glynn, to parents Philippa Callery and Alan Keane, who arrived just before 12.30 a.m., while the last of the day was Harry O’Connor, from William Street, Wexford, the son of Linda O’Connor and Richard Walsh, who was born just before 5.10 p.m.

Wexford’s Christmas Day babies are:

• James Keane, Wilkinstown, Glynn, to parents Philippa Callery and Alan Keane. Born 00.28 a.m., weighing 4.46kg. James has an older sister Lilí (8), and brother Charlie (2). He was due on St Stephen’s Day, but Philippa went into labour on Christmas Eve morning.

• Harry O’Connor, William Street, Wexford, to parents Linda O’Connor and Richard Walsh, who weighed in at 3.42kg, at 5.07 p.m. Harry has two sisters Emma and Lucy and a brother Adam.

• Sophie O’Leary, Castle Manor, Ferns, the daughter of soccer player Ali Evered and Wayne O’Leary, born at 2.55 p.m., who weighed 3.5kg. Sophie is the couple’s first child. ‘She’s got big feet and big hands, good for soccer and the GAA,’ said Ali.

• Conor Walsh, Coolmount House, Coolree, Barntown, to parents Eleanor and Ciaran Walsh, who was born at 11.51 a.m. and weighed 2.03kg. Conor is the couple’s first child.

• Hannah Wadding, Beechlawn, Wexford, to par- ents Sylvia and Barry Wadding, born at 12.40 p.m., and weighed 3.26kg. Hannah is their first child and was a week overdue.

• Anna Doyle, Creemore, Kilmuckridge, to parents Liz and Paddy Doyle. Born 9.30 a.m., weighing 3.26kg. Anna has an older brother Bobby (2).

• Lainey Kavanagh, Newborough, Gorey, daughter of Jayne Keating and Liam Kavanagh. Born 8.20 a.m., weighing 3.99 kg, Lainey has an older sister Leigh Beau (15 months).

The parents of the eighth baby wished to remain private.
