WEXFORD HAS TALENT LIVE SEMI-FINALS: The Wexford Has Talent live semi-finals are due to take place at Clayton Whites of Wexford on Saturday, January 14, and Saturday, January 21, with more than two dozen performers of all genres taking part, ahead of what promises to be a fantastic night of entertainm­ent at the grand final on Saturday, February 11. Sponsored by People Newspapers, tickets to the third annual Wexford Has Talent showcases are now on sale at Clayton Whites Hotel, priced at €10 for each semi final of Wexford Has Talent, and €15 for the grand final. An eclectic selection of acts will be taking part in the shows, which have proved extremely popular in the past. The winner will walk away with a €2,000 prize fund and, for the first time, this year two additional prizes of €500 have been added to the prize pot. All live shows commence at 8 p.m. sharp. Judges and MCs include well-known personalit­ies from around the county with Tony Carty, Councillor George Lawlor, Pat Lawlor, Catherine ‘Biddy’ Walsh, Anita Murphy, Ian Grey, Sophie Wilson and Yvette Walsh.

JOHNNY CASH ROADSHOW: Fans of the man in black and country music in general will be flocking to the National Opera House for the Johnny Cash Roadshow on Saturday, January 14, at 7.30pm. Fronted by the awardwinni­ng singer-songwriter Clive John with Jill Schooljans as June Carter, the show, which has been endorsed by the Cash and Carter families, features a line-up of highly talented musicians including Martin Bentley (bass),Nick David (guitars) and Darren Bazzoni (drums). Backing singers Amanda Stone and Louise Masters sparkle as the Carter Sisters. Clive John captures the essence of Cash with style and confidence.

Ó MAONLAÍ AND BEGLEY: The Hothouse Flowers frontman Liam Ó Maonlaí and concertina player Cormac Begley will appear in concert at Wexford Arts Centre on Thursday, January 12, at 8.30pm. The duo have been working together on various projects since they first met at Celtfest Cuba in 2010. Over the past few years, the pair have performed together in band Ré in venues in Ireland, Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand.

GOREY PANTO: Gorey Little Theatre Group presents ‘Snow White and the Eleven Dwarves’, a high-energy, hilarious pantomime in Gorey Little Theatre from Friday, January 13, to Saturday, January 21. It runs at 8 p.m. nightly apart from Saturday and Sunday, January 14 and 15, when the matinees are at 3 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the theatre daily from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on 053 9421474. Prices for the first three nights are €12, and all other shows are €15.

ROBIN HOOD PANTO: The merry crew of the New Ross Pantomime Society take to the stage of St Michael’s Theatre from Saturday, January 14 to Saturday, January 21 at 8 p.m. each night for their action packed production of Robin Hood. Featuring many laughs, there will also be matinee shows at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, Sunday, January 15 and Saturday, January 21. The show by one of the county’s best pantomime groups will entertain young and old alike. Tickets are available to buy at St Michael’s Theatre or online at www.stmichaels-newross.com

SNOOKER PLAYER JIMMY WHITE. The legendary snooker player will return to Wexford this Thursday evening to take on a number of local players. Jimmy who is known as the greatest snooker player never to win a world championsh­ip having been beaten in the final five times will take part in a display match against Wexford player Rodney Goggins. The showcase match will take place in the Riverbank House Hotel at 7.30pm and is sure to attract a large crowds. Tickets which are priced at €15 or €30 for a VIP package are available from Hore’s Stores or the Riverbank House Hotel.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: Wexford Pantomime Society is bringing Beauty and the Beast The Panto to the Dun Mhuire up to an including Sunday, February 15. With a stellar cast and script, this is definitely a must see for adults and children alike, filled with lots of laughs, humour and the odd twist and turn. The show runs nightly from today (Tuesday, January 10) with matinee performanc­es on Saturday, January 14 and Sunday, January 15.
