THE THREE TENORS IN CONCERT Rowe Street Church, March 3, 8 p.m.
The Three Tenors will appear in concert at Rowe Street Church in Wexford with special guests, CBS primary school choir and Enniscorthy Choral Society. Derek Moloney, Dominic McGorian and Shane Morgan perform up to 100 concerts annually in major venues throughout Ireland and the UK. For their Wexford concert, the famous trip will introduce new arrangements of ‘Caledonia’ ‘Over the Rainbow’ and ‘I Don’w Wanna Talk About It’ along with old favourites such as ‘I Believe’ and ‘She’ as well as a rousing selection of well-known Irish ballads. ISLA GRANT IN CONCERT Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, March 9
One of Scotland’s best known artists Isla Grant will perform her favourite hits at a concert in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy on March 9. Singer/songwriter Isla will take a trip down memory lane as she sings songs including Mother’s Chair, A Dream Come True, Listen to the Children, A Single Yellow Rose and Will You Walk With Me. Her beautiful voice and ability to write sensitive songs that cross over from country/folk to easy listening have established her as a major recording artist and popular live entertainer in Ireland, Australia, the UK and Canada. Isla’s country musician husband Al Grant will appear as a special guest performing some of the all-time great Jim Reeves classic hits.
GREENSHINE GIG Katie Daly’s Bar, Gorey, Friday, February 17
Family trio Greenshine comprising Noel Shine, Mary Greene and their daughter Ellie will play a gig in Katie Daly’s, starting 10 pm. The acoustic folk group were regulars at the Hooves n’ Grooves Festival in Wexford town. Noel’s stunning guitar picking is matched by Mary’s sweet singing with Ellie bringing a new dimension to the mix. Their song ‘Girl in the Lavender Dress’ received widespread airplay last year.
THREE LITTLE PIGS PUPPET SHOW National Opera House, Saturday, February 18, noon and 2 p.m.
Travelling puppeteer Miriam Lambert is presenting two performances of The Three Little Pigs in the Jerome Hynes Theatre at the National Opera House. Miriam has been at the heart of the Irish puppetry industry since her childhood having grown up with the Lambert Puppet Theatre in Dublin. She was trained by her father and mentor, the late master puppeteer Eugene Lambert. She has developed her own unique shows which have taken her to Europe, Egypt, Iran, Pakistan and the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC. She is the quintessential travelling performer, going from place to place with her entire show in a bag.
SLEEPING BEAUTY National Opera House, Friday, March 10
The Royal Moscow Ballet will bring Sleeping Beauty to the National Opera House on March 10. The classic story of love and innocence, mystery and magic is set to Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score. The audience can expect stunning choreography, breathtaking costumes and atmospheric sets as the famous ballet company brings the fairytale to life. The Royal Moscow Ballet enjoyed a sell-out performance of Swan Lake in the Opera House last year.
‘HELLO JOHNNY’ The Athenaeum, Enniscorthy, Saturday, Februay 18
Wexford Studio Theatre, a professional company based in Wexford is touring a one-man show called ‘Hello Johnny’ which deals with the mental health industry. It was performed at Fusion Cafe in Wexford last weekend and will be presented at The Athenaeum on Saturday, at 8 pm. ‘Hello Johnny’ addresses the topic of mental illness, contrasting the experience of past and present generations and asking questions about the motivations of drug companies. The material is presented in an entertaining and theatrical style including songs and comic turns with the aim of provoking audiences into considering their own mental health.
AN EVENING WITH MICHAEL HARDING National Opera House, Saturday, March 11
An evening with the writer and storyteller Michael Harding will take place in the National Opera House in Wexford on March 11. The Cavan man is the author of the best selling memoirs Staring at Lakes and Hanging with the Elephant which have touched a chord with audiences around the country. In his stage show, hthe Irish Times columnist will ruminate on his life over the past 18 months, playing the Bull McCabe on stage in Dublin, struggling with self-doubt, faith, psychotherapy and the chaos of building an extension to his home near Lough Allen.
