Lifelong sweethearts met in their ‘first baby school’

- By DAVID TUCKER

CHILDHOOD and lifelong sweethearts Helen and Darren Robinson are just back from a honeymoon of almost a month and will be spending their first Valentine’s Day as a married couple today (February 14).

‘We’ve been together since we first met in our first baby school,’ said Helen.

Both Helen and Darren, she was four and he was five, were in the late Mary O’Connell’s first class at Kennedy Park.

‘Then, we were in class up to communion and made communion together and now we’ve been together for 23 years,’ she said.

‘I brought Darren to my grad in 1993,’ she said.

Helen and Darren, who live in Mansfield Drive, got married on November 26 last year, with 26 their lucky number - both their birthdays were on the 26th, met they on the 26th and got married on the 26th - of different months.

‘We’re just back from our honeymoon. First it was a cruise around the Western Caribbean, then we went to Florida and then we had a week in Antigua and a couple of days in New York,’ said Helen, who works as a medical secretary for Dr Patrick Walsh, in Enniscorthy.

Darren is a production manager at Danone Nutricia in Rocklands.

Helen said Darren pooped the question on Christmas morning in 2015.

‘He had the ring in my stocking,’ she said.

The couple were married in Piercestown Church, with their reception at the Ferrycarrig Hotel.
