Martin’s the main man for Rovers

Martin McKeown was the man of the moment for Shamrock Rovers on Sunday as he hit a hat-trick to earn the champions a 3-0 win over New Ross Celtic.

Fellow Enniscorth­y side Moyne Rangers also chalked up a 3-0 triumph, with Peter Marsden netting a double and John Peare getting their other goal as they saw off Kilmore United.

Leaders Gorey Rangers continued to keep the chasing pack at arm’s length thanks to a 2-0 win away to Rosslare Rangers, with Eric Quinn and Conor Casserly scoring for the north county men.

Gorey Celtic also collected three points as they saw off Bunclody 3-1 at Mullaunfin.

The visitors took the lead in the second-half but a Dean McCann double edged Celtic ahead, before Ger Carey sealed the deal with their third.

Meanwhile, North End United were much too good for bottom side Campile United, running out comprehens­ive 6-0 winners (see focus match).

Division1

St. Cormac’s collected a valuable three points on Sunday as they edged out Curracloe United in their Division 1 clash.

The Boolavogue-based side came out on top 2-1 thanks to goals from Paul ‘Roddy’ Doyle and Mark Brady.

Division2

Shelburne moved level with Moyne Rangers at the top of Division 2 after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Ajax Athletic on Sunday.

Chris Connick, Jamie O’Dowd and Rob Kehoe scored for the winners, with Fenwick O’Shea and Jason Russell replying for Ajax.

Adamstown visited Fastnet Rovers and also registered a 3-2 victory, with Ian White, Conor Hickey and Ciarán Finn scoring for the visitors.

James Lynch netted a hat-trick for bottom side Gorey Rangers as they fought back from a 2-0 half-time deficit to earn a rare victory.

Goals from Willie Dobbs and Aaron Rothwell had Shamrock Rovers two goals to the good at the break, but Lynch’s treble and a Ross Moore free-kick put Rangers in control.

Division2A

Killenagh Wanderers moved into third place in Division 2A after goals from Martin Flynn and Dom Maher saw them edge out Forth Celtic 2-1 on Sunday.

Keith Donnelly netted a hat-trick for Duncannon in their 5-1 win over Rathnure, with Adam Parle and Aaron O’Brien getting their other goals.

Alan Whelan, Wayne Doyle, Shaun O’Gorman, Joe Hyland and Seán Crotty (two) got the goals for Enniscorth­y Town as they won 6-1 away to Rosslare Strand.

Division3

The Ballagh won the basement battle in Division 3 on Sunday as the eked out a 2-1 victory over bottom side Caim United.

Stephen Murphy and Noel Dempsey got the goals for the winners.

Division3A

Rosbercon United kept up their promotion challenge with a 2-0 win over Castledock­rell on Sunday.

Nathan Gaffney and Adrian Heffernan got the goals for the New Ross side.

Kilmore United ‘B’ have withdrawn from the division, with wins being awarded to their opposition in their unplayed fixtures.

Division4

Carne FC continued their title challenge with a 4-1 away win over bottom side Enniscorth­y United on Sunday.

Robbie Reville, Leigh Aylward (two) and Dean Maloney scored for the visitors, with Peter Cullen replying for United.

Division5

Wexford Albion were the real winners on Sunday as Ballymurn and Castledock­rell United claimed a point apiece after a 2-2 draw, with Shane Mernagh netting both goals for United.

Albion now just need a point away to bottom side Caim United next weekend to claim the title.

Morgan Gahan grabbed a hat-trick for St. Cormac’s in their 6-1 win over Camolin, with Barry Murphy, Paul Fitzgerald (penalty) and Mark Walsh getting their other goals.

Killenagh won 6-3 away to Caim United, with Laken Adams scoring a treble and Brian Cosgrave, Butch Leacy and Stephen Doran also hitting the back of the net for the winners.
