Keeley saves day
NEIL O’SULLIVAN CUP
GOALKEEPER Lee Keeley was the match-winner for Cloughbawn in their Neil O’Sullivan Cup second round tie on Sunday as he saved two penalties and scored one in the shoot-out to send his side through at the expense of Crossabeg.
Crossabeg had one foot in the next round as they held a 2-1 advantage thanks to a Joe Wilson double, but a late David Doyle-Murphy leveller forced extra-time.
Páidí Cullen had earlier got on the scoresheet for the Division 2A pacesetters.
Holders Corach Ramblers bowed out of the competition as they suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Forth Celtic.
Lee Busher, Ciarán Redmond and Ryan Busher scored for the Murrintown men, with Niall Harney netting a double for Ramblers.
An Eoin Carton goal was enough to earn Tombrack an away win against New Ross Town, while Wexford Bohs also registered a 1-0 victory on their travels thanks to a Seán Pailing strike.
North End United ‘B’ chalked up a convincing win over St. Joseph’s thanks to goals from Danny Fitzpatrick (two), Brandon Sinnott, Ayman Yousif and Daryl Power, with Gary O’Leary replying for the Kilmuckridge side. There was no joy for North End’s third team, however, as they lost out 1-0 to Bridge Rovers, with Kevin Byrne grabbing the goal.
Taghmon United had a welcome change of fortune as they beat Wexford Celtic 6-5 on penalties after a 0-0 stalemate.
